Ford’s latest pony in electric SUV clothing is now available to order in the United States, and there has been a considerable interest in the carmaker’s newest electric toy. That interest has been furthered pumped up as Ford has confirmed the rumored upgrade in output and torque ratings of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Let's check out these latest developments.

Greater Output And Torque

Previously, all-new extended-range all-wheel-drive models of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E were estimated to deliver 332 hp (240 kW) of max output and 417 lb.-ft. of instant torque. All extended-range rear-wheel-drive models were engineered to deliver 282 hp (210 kW) and 306 lb.-ft. On the other hand, standard-range all-wheel-drive models eke out 255 hp (190 kW) and 417 lb.-ft., while standard-range rear-wheel-drive units offer the same output but 306 lb.-ft. of instant torque.

HotCars reported in April the speculated bump in the power ratings of the Mustang Mach-E, but now it's confirmed. The extended-range all-wheel-drive models now delivers 346 hp (258 kW) and 428 lb.-ft. of torque while extended-range rear-wheel-drive variants now offer 290 hp (216 kW) and 317 lb.-ft. Standard-range all-wheel-drive models now provide 266 hp (198 kW) and 428 lb.-ft., while standard-range rear-wheel-drive Mach-Es now generate 266 hp (198 kW) and 317 lb.-ft.

In terms of performance, extended and standard range all-wheel drive models are targeted to achieve a 0-60 mph sprint time in the mid five-second range. Extended-range rear-wheel drive models could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in the mid-six second range, with standard-range rear-wheel versions doing the sprint in the low six-second range.

According to its spec sheet, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E can be optioned in five models: Select, Premium, First Edition, California Route 1 and the GT. The GT model with the optional equipment – with its 459 hp of targeted peak output – is the most desirable, as it can zoom to 60 mph in the mid-three second range.

Since the order books are now open, Ford has invited all those who have reserved the new 2021 Mustang Mach-E to convert their reservations to official orders. The Select, Premium, First Edition, California Route 1 editions will arrive late this year while the GT will appear in Summer 2021.
