The Jaguar F-Type sports car has now been formally announced for the 2021 model year. Now available at a starting price of $70,300 (£54,060) in the UK, the new F-Type boasts a revised, meaner look outside and an updated interior. Most of all, its range-topper – the F-Type R – is now even more powerful than its predecessor.

3 Meaner, Updated Exterior

The 2021 Jaguar F-Type is offered in three versions -- F-Type, F-Type R Dynamic and F-Type R -- differentiated by various exterior and interior elements.

Proportion-wise, the 2021 iteration is still recognizable as the F-Type. Nonetheless, the design revisions are fairly easy to spot. It dons a new clamshell hood that defines its low-slung nose with front bumpers and a larger grille. The 2021 F-Type also has a meaner look, thanks to super-slim LED headlights, as complemented by revised daytime running lights with a detailed monogram pattern.

In the rear, the new Jaguar F-Type comes with taillights with a more angular and slimmer shape. However, the look of the lower rear bumper and the rear diffuser differ depending on the powertrain.

2 Goodbye Analog Gauges

As luxurious as ever, the interior of the new 2021 Jaguar F-Type employs premium materials such as Windsor Leather, Suedecloth and Noble Chrome. The craftsmanship remains very refined and detailed. Its now comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto featuring software-over-the-air update capability.

Perhaps, the most obvious change inside the new Jaguar F-Type is the presence of a digital instrument cluster in lieu of traditional analog gauges. The 12.3-inch reconfigurable HD TFT instrument cluster can be set up in any of three display themes, with the default mode featuring a large central tachometer.

Three powertrain options for new F-Type are offered – a 2.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium engine (296 hp and 295 lb.-ft.), a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 mill (380 hp of output and 339 lb.-ft. of torque) and 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine. Both the Ingenium and V6 engines are available for the F-Type and the F-Type R Dynamic.

A 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine tuned to 444 hp and 428 lb.-ft. is offered for buyers of the F-Type and the F-Type R Dynamic in Europe. Meanwhile, the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine in the F-Type R now delivers 575 hp of output and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. This makes the 2021 F-Type R 25 hp and 14 lb.-ft. more powerful than the previous model.

Since Jaguar has already ditched the manual gearbox for the F-Type, all these mills are paired to an eight-speed transmission that can be manually controlled via the SportShift gear selector or paddles on the steering wheel.
