The Sport Turismo is the nimble long-roof rendition of the Porsche Panamera sedan with a station wagon skeleton. Despite its form, it has all the sporty qualities of the 911. The base variant offers 335hp, and the S E-Hybrid now provides 689hp and a top speed of nearly 200mph. There are seven trims available, and the starting Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo cost range across its variants is $100K to $194K.

This sporty station wagon model features seamless gas-electric handoff and a wide range of powertrains. However, it has many notable drawbacks for such an expensive vehicle, including insufficient outward visibility and a lack of physical controls inside. With that said, if you're a fan of Porsche and station wagons, there's no reason that you shouldn't take a closer look at the 2021 Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.

The Sport Turismo sees a whole host of changes for the new model year, in line with the 2021 Porsche Panamera sedan updates. This high ranking super luxury car has plenty to offer, despite having some disappointing pitfalls. We'll discuss the exterior, performance, and interior of the Sport Turismo in the following breakdown.

The Sport Turismo Gets A New Lease On Life For 2021

For the new model year Sport Turismo, a 2.9l twin-turbo V6, becomes the new base engine, offering 335hp and replacing a 3l V6. The GTS variant now features a 4l V8 and grants 473hp, 20hp more than the 2020 model. As for the new Turbo S trim, you get 620hp. 2021 sees the arrival of the 4S E-Hybrid, and with 552hp, it provides a performance comparable to the retired Turbo model, while the rest of the E-Hybrid trims come with more sizeable battery packs.

For the first time, you can get ultra-high-performance summer tires with the Sport Turismo, while the front fascia receives a fancier design and the taillights see a significant upgrade to their appearance. There is also a range of fresh optional wheels and exterior colors for 2021, new standard lane-keeping assist, steering wheels, and the option of a sport exhaust system that ramps up sound.

With the base 4 model, you can achieve zero to 60 in under five seconds and 330hp. The 4 E-Hybrid offers 440hp and can reach 60mph in 3.5 seconds. By the time you get to the mid-range gas-only GTS model, there is 453hp on offer. The Turbo B provides 620hp, and the Turbo S-E Hybrid gives drivers a combined 690hp and up to 642lb-ft of torque. There is a hybrid version of every gas-guzzling trim, bar the GTS.

The available exterior colors include black, red, silver, blue, and green, depending on the variant. The Sport Turismo line-up for 2021 comes with accurate steering feedback, near-flawless transitions from gas to electric, and a wide range of performance options. However, what you get from the Sport Turismo will still depend pretty heavily on the variant you go with. We're still waiting on the EPA ratings for 2021. However, in 2020, the best EPA rating was given to the E-Hybrid, offering a combined 51MPGe, though the 2020 GTS gets you just 15MPG in the city and 22 on the highway.

The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Interior Is High-Class

Inside, you get exactly what you'd expect for a six-figure sports vehicle. Its sporty interior features a stylish cabin, 12.3" infotainment system, and in contrast to many sports cars, a thin steering wheel with a complimentary pair of metal shift paddles. There are many optional interior features to choose from, including massaging front and rear seats and leather climate-control vents.

With that said, the cargo bay is smaller than many of its wagon competitors, with 18.3 cubic feet behind its final row of seats. As for interior storage spots, there is a pretty spacious glove box, sizeable door pockets, and an unusually shaped center-console bin. The infotainment system has some notable standard features such as built-in navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto integration, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless phone charging. You can personalize the Sport Turismo today by selecting the variant of your choice on the Porsche online configurator.

The Sport Turismo Is Less Spacious Than Many Rival Wagons

The Audi A7

One notable competitor is the Audi A7. Its S7 trim is incredibly sporty and offers 444hp. You get 24.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats, beating the Sport Turismo by 6.6 cubic feet. The A7 also has a lower price tag, with an MSRP range of $70-81K, across its five variants. Both vehicles are similar in size, while the A7 offers better fuel economy.

On the other hand, the Sport Turismo has an extra 4 gallons of fuel tank capacity and a better curb-to-curb turning diameter. Overall, though, the A7 provides a better bang for your buck. Some of the sports trims beat the conventional Panamera, but in general, the Sport Turismo falls behind many rivals for interior space on all accounts.

The value of its interior, the range of trims to choose from, and the fact that there are several hybrid options, may give the Sport Turismo the edge for a lot of customers. However, overall, while it is an admirable vehicle in many areas, the Sport Turismo could offer better qualities, especially given its price tag.
