It is very well known that Tesla is a disruptor in the auto industry. Their electric vehicles are technologically leaps and bounds beyond the competition. Some aspects of Tesla appear to be unorthodox for a car company. Most times, these instances are not explained, given that Tesla no longer has a PR department.

But some things do not have to be explained because they are absolute home runs by them. Even if some things that they do are unusual, when a new pure performance vehicle like the new Roadster is unveiled by Tesla, it will surely be huge despite any extra oddities.

Tesla has announced the second generation of the Roadster back in 2017, and it is nearing the start of its production. The concept still gives a lot of cues to what the production version will be like. The original Roadster was the first vehicle that Tesla produced, and at that time, it borrowed heavily from Lotus. Now that Tesla has far more resources, the new Roadster has come a long way. Judging from the excitement and fanfare that has been perpetuated for the past four-plus years shows that the world is ready for a new roadster.

From what Tesla has divulged so far, there is a lot to look forward to. If Elon Musk comes through on all of his promises, the second generation will be a force to be reckoned with.

Here are some of the most exciting aspects of the new Tesla Roadster.

It Has Absurd Acceleration

The new Roadster has a claimed 0-60 time of 1.9 seconds. No internal combustion vehicle has come close to touching that number. Going from 0-100 mph can be accomplished after only 4.2 seconds.

Most other automakers claim it a success to go 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, let alone 100 mph. Along with the insane acceleration is an extremely high top speed. Tesla claims that it can reach up to 250 mph.

It's A Supercar – But More Practical

When you think about a high-performance vehicle, supercars generally come to mind. Based off the offerings currently on the market, there are a significant amount of sacrifices that come with owning a supercar all for the sake of increased performance.

But with the Tesla Roadster you still get a sense of practicality and daily drivability. Four seats are standard, which is unheard of in the supercar segment. It is safe to say that the Roadster will also be offered with Tesla’s suite of semi-autonomous driving technology that makes most driving situations more relaxing. A combination like this puts the Roadster in a unique position where it delivers supercar performance with it still be tame enough to drive in the city as well as on the track.

The Tesla Roadster contains a lot of features that can prove it to be a tempting choice for many. This is clearly seen for those early adopters who have placed a $50,000 deposit four years ago and still waiting for delivery on their Roadster. Here’s to hoping all these features make it to production and seeing them on the road in the near future.
