Now that some time has passed after the 2022 BMW i4 M50 introduction, we can say the iconic Bavarian brand did a great job. The 2022 BMW i4 M50 is the first BMW electric vehicle to wear an M, signifying how much it shares with the top-performing cars from the M series. Although its sibling from the i4 Gran Coupe series named eDrive 40 has equally inspiring specs, the M50 takes things to a different level.

The all-electric vehicle quickly won over our hearts, and not without reason. As we previously explained in one of our reviews, there are many reasons to love the i4 M50, starting with modern performance and style. But what we missed to mention are the features that make the 2022 BMW i4 M50 stand out from other electric vehicles (and we know the EV market is getting crowded these days).

We dare to say BMW prides itself on a somewhat different approach in fabricating the 2022 BMW i40 M50. The brand made sure to build this EV with all the right components to fill in the lacks of its competition. Are you interested to find out more about it? Follow our guide to the best features of the 2022 BMW i40 M50 that make it unique in the future-focused industry.

The All-Electric BMW i4 M50 Comes Surprisingly Close To The M3 Power-Wise

Without a doubt, the 2022 BMW i4 M50 is a powerful EV. But what makes us more excited is that the M50 comes pretty close to the BMW's high-performing M3. We even wrote about these two being in a drag race. It was a fun thing to see, that's for sure. With the M3 reaching 503 horsepower, the M50 embarrasses its cousin a bit.

Now, the M3 Competition xDrive, as the top trim, can hit 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, slightly outperforming the M50 (0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds). But our point here is not to compare these two vehicles. We want to highlight how BMW went above and beyond with its new EV.

With its specs, the BMW i4 M50 doesn't only compete with other insane EVs, but also with conventional counterparts. We don't speak here only about the powerful motors. The M50 is a powerful and comfortable drive altogether. The handling is precise, the grip and balance are impressive, and the experience is overall satisfying. Moreover, for such a high-performer, you get a range of up to 270 miles and fast charging for unexpected situations.

When we sum things up, the M50 may well be above the iX, and it shows the depth of BMW's dedication to taking its EV to the next level.

2022 BMW i4 M50: The Design Is Classic BMW Rather Than Purely Futuristic

Call us traditional, but we do like that the new BMW i4 M50 has a small sunroof rather than the all-glass roof that has become trendy these days. With all due respect to Tesla, it's good to have options.

But the roof isn't the only thing BMW kept more traditional-like, so to say. Without a doubt, the M50 looks modern, but it doesn't make a big step toward a futuristic design. Think about the smoothed-out lines of the new Tesla EVs. Compared to them, the M50 looks sharp, aggressive, and down-to-earth.

This becomes even more obvious on the inside. The 2022 BMW i4 M50 is not stripped bare like so many other EVs (again, sorry Tesla). In fact, it rather feels at home. Except for the long, curved display screen, the M50 is pretty much similar to other BMW models, which is a good thing.

Most BMW fans like how the German manufacturer handles the interior styling, and there's no reason to change that with an EV. Moreover, BMW certainly taps the customer base that doesn't like all the futuristic frills. In the BMW i4 M50, everything from the gear selector to the drive mode buttons is intuitive and genuine. It makes the driver feel comfortable.

The 2022 BMW i4 M50 Offers A Premium Driving Alternative To Its EV Competitors

Currently, the BMW i4 M50 stands as the top EV vehicle of this brand, but how well does it rank against the competition? Let's take the Tesla Model 3 and the rising star Polestar 2 as examples. In general terms, these three are close. The Tesla Model 3 is a good bang for the buck, but the Polestar 2 is superior in driving comfort and overall design.

Still, the M50 beats both in the premium feel and quality. The new BMW just tackles the other aspects of the EV, simultaneously providing an exceptional driving experience.

In the end, we're not to claim the 2022 BMW i4 M50 is better than the rest of the EVs. But its best features certainly work in favor of those who desire a more classic feel in their EV while not losing the performance and comfort.
