Mercedes-Benz was officially founded in 1926 after almost 40 years after Carl Benz designed his first car. BMW got its start in 1916, ten years prior. For decades the two have been head and head in their classes. Youtube Channel Bros FOURR Speed are taking the flagship vehicles from both companies and pitting them against each other in what they call "The luxury sedan battle".

The two vehicles they will be reviewing are the 2022 BMW M8 Gran Coupe against the Mercedes Benz AMG E63 S. The BMW starts at around $152,000 and for this, you get a 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine producing 617 HP and 553 Ft-Lbs of torque. The Mercedes in the video comes in at around $132,000. For that money, you get a 4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that pumps out 603 HP and 627 Ft-Lbs of torque. Both are about 4500 Lbs and will do zero to sixty times in just about 3 seconds. Both have 20-inch wheels with performance package brakes from their respective performance subsidiaries.

Love In The Backseat

A place where these cars are very different is the rear seats. These cars are not only to drive but also to enjoy the comfort from the back seat. The back seats in the BMW in the video are home to beautiful Corinthian white leather. The white carries onto the door panels where the perforated leather covers some raised diamond shapes. The brushed aluminum gives a fresh look to the door says our host. Once he is sitting our host tells us he has lots of legs and headroom, however, he points out that the climate controls are in the middle extending out from the center console. This means that whoever sits in the middle will need to deal with this between their legs. The E63 is similar in legroom but has a little more headroom since it is a 4 door. The interior dazzles in brown leather with dark wood accents and without the "center stack" that the BMW has. Both sport amazingly comfortable seats we're told.

When it comes to vehicles like these one would expect no less than the latest and greatest technology. The infotainment system in the BMW is very user-friendly and performed with either the touch screen or physical buttons. It is not very configurable but boasts some pretty impressive equipment such as a 360 view camera and M performance statistics screens where you can view information about your car. The Mercedes also offers the 360 view camera but the infotainment system is much more configurable and more vibrant than the BMW's. You can customize the screens (gauge cluster and center screen) to show any gauges or information you may want. It is not as user-friendly but since it has more information this was an expectation.

Our host tells us that although the cars are very similar, as he's shown throughout the video there are two different types of people for these cars. He says if you are a tech-type person who has a family the Mercedes would be his choice, however, if you can sacrifice technology for sportiness, the BMW may be the choice for you. The choice is ultimately yours.
