If the regular BMW X6 failed to impress you, the more expensive X6 M's performance will undoubtedly provide you with a healthy dose of adrenaline. And for those people who look for opulence in a luxury car, the X6 M will appease you with its styling as well. It comes with a base price of $109,500 along with a long list of options and packages for customization.

However, there are other contenders that the X6 M should worry about when it comes to styling, performance, and luxury. The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT is one of the most beautiful and swift luxury SUVs out there, and it is a strong rival to the X6 M. The 2022 Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT comes with a hefty price tag of $190,150.

We compared the cheaper X6 M with the Cayenne Turbo GT to determine the best fit for buyers on a tight budget.

Both the BMW X6 M and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT are incredibly fast luxury cars and are powered by brawny engines. The BMW X6 M is propelled by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to an M-tuned 8-speed automatic gearbox, driving all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The engine is capable of producing 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque as standard. Once equipped with the optional Competition Package, the power climbs to 617 horsepower. With this, the X6 M can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and cover a quarter-mile in just 11.6 seconds.

On the other hand, the costlier Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT is boosted by a smaller but angrier 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel-drive. The smaller and angrier engine exhales 631 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of twist-force. With more power on board, the Turbo GT claims the 0-60 mph mark in a mere 3.1 seconds and 11.4 seconds for the quarter-mile, making the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo GT one of the fastest SUVs on the market.

Both the X6 M and the Cayenne Turbo GT are great looking luxury cars. However, we love the BMW X6 M because of its sharper and more contemporary styling. BMW recently introduced the third-generation X6 in 2020. Thus, it looks newer and sharper than the Cayenne. The X6 M’s front looks sophisticated. The iconic kidney grille along with the sleek C-shaped DRLs look fine. The sloping roofline makes its "coupe" character more justified. In addition, the X6 M looks meaner and sportier when equipped with the Competition Package.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT looks meticulously built, and it looks premium from every angle. However, its premium demeanor makes it look poised before the X6 M. Porsche introduced the latest generation of Cayenne in 2017 and hasn’t implemented any exterior changes since then. Hence, the older design proves to be the Cayenne’s Achilles heel and prevents it from being bolder than the X6 M. Nonetheless, the Cayenne Turbo GT still looks great and has a robust road presence.

When it comes to interior design and comfort, it is hard to choose a winner as both the SUVs come packed with remarkably crafted cabins designed to offer best-in-class comfort and features. However, we love the interior of the X6 M for some compelling reasons. The X6 M arrives with a meticulously crafted cabin built with A-grade materials incorporated into a modern layout. The dashboard design looks sleek, and the controls offer excellent ergonomics. The X6 M offers seats for five. The front side has a pair of fourteen-way power-adjustable heated front seats, and they offer 39.3-inches of headroom and 40.4-inches of legroom. The rear seats offer 37.5-inches and 35.7-inches of headroom and legroom, respectively.

The Cayenne Turbo GT also offers a magnificent cabin, and the design Porsche used in the dashboard gives the interior a distinct appeal. Material quality is fantastic as well. However, when it comes to ergonomics, the Cayenne’s controls are less friendly and the buttons are a little further away; thus, you’ll need to stoop forward while driving. In addition, most of the seat and climate control buttons are located on the center console, which requires some attention while driving. While we don’t know how much space the Cayenne Coupe offers inside, we expect it to be less than the X6 M because the Cayenne Coupe offers seats for four, and it is smaller than the X6 M in size. However, the seats offer great comfort and come with heating and power adjustability.
