A new addition to the Chrysler 300 lineup is happening. The 2022 model is set to be similar in style and appearance to the likes of the 2021 Chrysler 300, yet there are a few new editions.

It looks to be as classy as ever and as fans were hoping, the horsepower game is being taken up a notch. Some suggest that the love for the Chrysler 300 lineup will soon die out, should the manufacturers not do something about the platform and technology. Nonetheless, there is still a lot to love and appreciate about the 2022 Chrysler 300.

On that note, here's a closer look at the 2022 Chrysler 300 and what we love about it.

The Extra Horsepower Of The 2022 Chrysler 300

The most popular trim of the Chrysler is the 300 S, which we will cover when discussing the love for the extra horsepower. All models are still built on the same LX-base platform, which Chrysler still never seems to get rid of. Nonetheless, the extra horsepower is what we love and what we are here to talk about.

Chrysler's 2021 model of the 300 saw only 292-hp, and the 2022 model will boast 300-hp. Even though it is a small increase, it is still something to give the full-size ride more punch and power.

Although the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 is no longer around, the ride is still the only full-size car to offer both a V6 and a V8 engine. All models feature a 3-6-liter engine, while the S model features an engine calibration and sport-tuned exhaust, which enables it to reach that maximum of 300-hp.

What's more, is that the S model is the only one from the lineup where customers can add a bigger engine to it, the 5.7-liter Hemi. This will boost horsepower to 363 but come at a cost of an extra $4,000.

Various Trim Levels

It is sad to see the back of the original SRT, which was a popular 300 model since 2015. However, Chrysler is still offering the 300 in various trims. These include Touring, Touring L, S, C, and special SRT models. The C trim is available in Mexico only and the special SRT trim is available to customers in Australia and the Middle East.

Speaking of things that the Chrysler 300 no longer offers is three exterior colors, which include amethyst, ocean blue, and canyon sunset. Therefore, should a customer be in the market for those particular colors for the 2022 model, unfortunately, they won't be lucky enough. The remaining colors for the trim levels include bright white, gloss black, silver mist, granite crystal, velvet red, and frostbite. There are still plenty of options available, but it is a shame to see such vibrant and unique colors level the lineup for 2022.

All trims offer a rear-wheel-drive setup as the standard. The 300 S model is the most popular as it is the most shown in advertising. This model features larger wheels and a much sportier body. The lower trims are pretty obvious, as the exterior doesn't look as sporty or bold.

The Touring L package will come with the Sports package as standard now, which means customers can enjoy 20-inch wheels, black exterior badging, a performance front fascia with cool LED fog lamps.

Nonetheless, we are happy that there are still various trim levels available worldwide, and we think the choice of trims is helping the 300 to continue its life in the market.

The Fuel Economy

The fuel rating of the Chrysler 300 is still very impressive. The ratings show 19 mpg for the city and 30 mpg for the highway for the standard 3.6-liter engine.

Switching to the 5.7-liter Hemi engine in the S trim will reduce its fuel economy. So, for those seeking a more affordable ride, it is best to stick with the small engine and maintain its impressive gas mileage.

Although there is much to love about the Chrysler 300, it is slowly dying out. The sales value might be great but the sales themselves are quickly reducing. The sales of the 300 models saw around 50,000 or more each year until 2018, which is when sales saw a decline. Sales are now at around 16,000 for the 2021 model and with a decline in sales, it might be that the 2022 model might soon be outcast by the likes of the 300's rivals, such as the Dodge and Challenger rides.

Overall, we do love the classiness of the Chrysler 300, which is a thing all Chrysler fans love about this ride. The extra horsepower is great too. However, we hope to see more future improvements for the 300 so that it doesn't die out.
