Infiniti's humpback crossover will start at $46,500 MSRP before destination cost, according to an official press release. That's an almost nine-grand jump from the base price of the vehicle it's based on, the QX50, despite being a little bit smaller. However, the latter is the mainstream product while the 2022 Infiniti QX55 is designed to be a more fashionable alternative. Let's take a closer look.

The Infiniti QX55: A Competitive Coupe

Infiniti is late to the SUV-segment-that-shouldn't-exist comprised of compact crossover vehicles that had been Frankensteined with a sloping roofline to defeat purposes of utility. Sadly, SUV-coupes are here to stay so at least the QX55 had time to be styled better and come out on the prettier end.

That beauty is backed by a two-liter variable compression turbocharged engine producing 268 hp and coupled to a continuously variable transmission. All QX55s will come standard with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and twenty-inch wheels, as well as claimed class-leading cargo capacity compared to similarly-shaped crossovers.

For 2022, the QX55 is available in three trim levels: Luxe, Essential, and Sensory. On top of twenty-inch wheels, the Luxe variant includes a tinted glass moonroof, heated front seats, Active Noise Cancellation, an en suite of active safety features, and wireless Apple CarPlay on Infiniti's dual-screen InTouch infotainment system.

Upgrading to the other two will open the door for leather seating surfaces, air-conditioned seat functions, open-pore wood trim, a more premium sixteen-speaker stereo, and an extensive list of safety features. A 4G LTE setup will provide WiFi connection up to seven devices in every QX55. You'll be able to choose between eight paint options and three color shades inside.

The 2022 Infiniti QX55 is expected to arrive at US dealerships beginning in April 2021.
