If you look at the bigger picture, you’ll realize that Jeep’s vehicles haven’t really changed all that much, particularly in terms of design formula. But, of course, that doesn't imply that they haven't gotten better. Being one of the longest-lasting off-road vehicles, there’s no denying that the Jeep Wrangler is also one of the most evolved vehicles. It has come a long way since its inception, taking on rounded-off edges and replacing the old headlights with LED versions.

Now, the current Wrangler offers more luxuries and usability than ever before. Excellent off-road capability, Iconic appearance, and an easy-to-use infotainment system are all the strong attributes of the 2022 Jeep Wrangler. In addition, Jeep offers five different engines for the Wrangler, so chances are good that one of them will meet your needs, whether you crave power, fuel economy, or the best of both worlds.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, which starts at $74,800 and is only available in four-door body style, is the highest ranking in the family tree and our favorite trim level. Introduced last year alongside the Wrangler 4xe, the Rubicon 392 is the top-of-the-class Jeep, and it won many accolades, including the ‘2022 SUV Of The Year' award. Going up against the Rover Defender V8 and the new Ford Bronco, the Rubicon 392 comes with a roaring V8, great off-road ability, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, remote start, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, as well as LED headlights and fog lights, among other things.

We'll go over our favorite features of the Jeep Rubicon 392, and why it's a must-have for serious off-roaders.

The Rubicon 392 borrows its cabin design from the standard Wrangler Rubicon, with climate control, electric windows, and off-road-related buttons all neatly grouped together. The cabin maintains the exterior's bronze color scheme cabin and is entirely concealed in leather. However, the only interior color you’ll get is black. On the bright side, it perfectly blends in with the bronze stitching.

Sitting in the center of the dashboard is Stellantis' 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment system, which comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a nine-speaker stereo, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. As a high-end trim, the 392 comes with leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped performance steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters.

While its lower-end siblings are available in two-door and four-door configurations, the Wrangler is only available in four-door form, making it a strict five-seater SUV. Long trips can be comfortably endured in the front seats, thanks to their supportive design. The bench seat for the back passengers is flatter but still reclining to some extent. With the hardtop on, headroom is 40.8 inches in the front and 40.3 inches in the back. Front passengers have 40.8 inches of legroom, while rear passengers have 38.2 inches. If you prefer the optional Powertop and Mopar Sunrider flip top, you’ll enjoy more headroom.

There are also reasonable storage compartments in the cabin, with cupholders in the front and back. However, doors only have mesh pockets, so you won’t carry drinks in them. The Wrangler Rubicon 392 offers 31.7 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, which is 72.4 cubic feet with the 60/40 rear seats folded. This is one of the bigger cargo areas in the compact SUV class.

The Rubicon 392 comes with Stellantis' 6.4-liter Hemi V8, which makes 470 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 470 pound-feet of torque at 4,300 RPM. This makes the 392 the first Wrangler to have a V8 in nearly 40 years. The Wrangler sends this power to the wheels through the 8-Speed Automatic and the standard Selec-Trac full-time four-wheel-drive system.

Although there is an active noise control system, the V8 is incredibly vocal and gives the Jeep good throttle feedback. The Wrangler has paddle shifters for manual control, making it the first Wrangler with this feature.

Despite its bulky 5,000-pound weight, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392’s acceleration is outstanding, largely thanks to the standard AMax shifting - a special feature that debuted on the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. The Off-road Plus also comes standard with Sand and Rock driving modes. The Off-road Plus setting in 4H mode allows the rear differential to lock at high speeds, which significantly reduces the possibility of losing traction or spinning out.

And unlike the majority of the standard Wrangler lineup that has a part-time 4x4 system, the Rubicon 392 employs a full-time system with an automatic mode. This system smartly sends torque where needed.

One of the noteworthy features is the cooling system. The powerful SUV features a functional hood scoop as well as robust intakes that direct air to the engine. However, because the 392 will most likely be driving through stuff that sticks to the body, Jeep included a secondary air path. It's so effective that even when the hood scoop is completely blocked, the Jeep can reach its top speed, ruled at 112 mph.
