When heading to a Cars and Coffee event, you never really know what you’re going to spot on the road ahead. While on the way to the Nashville C&C in Cool Springs, Tennessee, YouTuber Byron Glover, AKA Drive 615, spotted a bright yellow 2022 Nissan 400Z traveling down the road heading to the show. The sighting was likely one of the first of its kind, and despite the new 2022 Nissan Frontier pickup that followed, Byron was compelled to give his attention to the new Z sports car.

Plenty Of Photos Around, But Not Many In Motion

US dealerships are likely already sold out of the Nissan 370Z based on numerous reports, leading Z-enthusiasts to look forward to the coming of its next generation of iconic sports cars. Shown to the public in Tokyo last year, the Z Proto has been widely talked about, but rarely seen anywhere on the road or even in movement, for that matter. Spy videos have been circulating around the internet and among various media outlets, but this was a rare event to actually see one on the road.

Is It Called A 400Z?

According to several sources with “inside information”, the next Z car will not be called the 400Z. The performance coupe will likely just go by the name of “Z” globally. However, in Japan the coupe will be marketed as the “Fairlady Z.”

WIth a sticker price of just under $35,000, the twin-turbo V6 will produce 400 horsepower - hence, the 400Z idea - the public will have to wait for the official announcement to find out an exact name for sure. For the true, sportscar purest a manual transmission will be offered as well. Scheduled to be launched later this year, the model is expected to hit showrooms in the spring of 2022, and is expected to compete with the BMW M2 and Toyota Supra.

The Design Is Distinctively Z

Nissan has managed to keep the iconic Z shape, all while giving the front end some modern touches and is quite striking to see on the road. The comparison to a nearby 240Z gave a perfect side-by-side display of all the carry over from the classic models from the 70s and 80s. The taillights are reminiscent of the 300ZX, which was considered one of the coolest cars to come from the 1990s, and the slant emblem Z is expected to carry into the new model.
