The Range Rover has been the epitome in the luxury SUV segment, ever since its inception all the way back in 1969. With the outgoing model being in desperate need of a refresh, the British carmaker has finally unveiled the fifth installment of their supreme SUV.

Not only is it going to be the priciest SUV that Land Rover has ever rolled out, but it is also aiming to redefine the entire segment as it stands. Built completely new from the ground up, the 2022 Range Rover is here and is set to dominate the market.

Here’s what you need to know about the newest generation of the Range Rover.

Many have opined that the exterior of the new Range Rover looks very similar to that of the outgoing generation. However, the evolution isn't merely skin-deep. Under the exterior is where all the biggest changes are. The new Range Rover is built on a brand-new platform, developed from the ground up, called the MLA-Flex platform. The platform is future-proof, as it will also be in the next Sport model, and will even support electric variants of the same.

The new architecture is even rumored to support the upcoming Land Rover crossover! The plug-in hybrid models would most probably hold the battery packs in the middle, and the fully-electric Range Rover, which is due some time in 2024, will follow suit.

This certainly means that the Range Rover will finally be able to take the fight to rivals like the Mercedes GLS. However, the three-row variant is only available on the longer wheelbase, for which you'd have to shell quite a lot more.
