We expect the first 2022 WRX to arrive at your local Subaru dealer in January or February of 2022. Let’s take a look at the Underneath of the skin, the next-generation WRX should have a new platform as well. Word is that it’s being developed jointly by Subaru and Toyota, and it will pack a bigger punch under the hood as well. Replacing both the 2.0-liter in Japan and 2.5-liter elsewhere will be a high-output version of the FA24 2.4-liter turbo flat-four currently serving with the Legacy, Ascent, and Outback. In the WRX, the mill could be bumped to 400 horsepower, though that output might be for the STI version and not the standard version. Naturally, the regular WRX would be less powerful than that, but it should still pack more than the current engine, which makes 268 horses and 258 lb-ft.

We also expect that Subaru will once again offer the all-wheel-drive system with either an automatic transmission or a manual gearbox.
It is also safe to assume that the company's suite of driver-assistance technology which is called EyeSight, should continue to be available. EyeSight monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, and warns you if you sway outside your lane. EyeSight has been found to reduce the rate of rear-end crashes with injuries by up to 85% according to Subaru.
Subaru offers three different options when it comes to the warranty and maintenance coverage of their cars:
- A limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles
- No complimentary scheduled maintenance
The interior of the 2022 Subaru WRX
The car will come with an 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and we expect to see a driver-focused interior with body-hugging bucket seats and other sporty touches. The list of popular features will likely include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as built-in navigation and USB outlets for front- and rear-seat passengers. We also expect that with the 2022 version, they will provide us with better quality seat material as well as better sound deadening.

We expect that the 2022 version is going to give you a better driving experience than the model that is currently out.
