After what almost appeared to be a decade, Volkswagen has finally announced the 2022 model of their best-selling SUV: The Volkswagen Tiguan.

The Tiguan SUV comes with a sporty appearance and handling, and it maintains the legendary Volkswagen guise. Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine brings out a solid performance. As far as the market share is concerned, the Tiguan is taking over the crossover SUV segment.

If you can recall, the Tiguan went through a ground-breaking redesign in 2017, which marked the birth of the second-generation Tiguan model. Since then, the Tiguan underwent several changes in autumn 2020, receiving new technology, safety, and reliability. For 2022, Volkswagen made a few tweaks to the exterior and interior of the famous SUV.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan has been revealed with bolder styling, modern technology, and many more compliments, all at a price that will leave a smile on your face. Now, the enhanced size and additional seats (for the long-wheelbase US model) have made the Tiguan an ideal choice for families and the more adventurous folks.

As it approaches its sixth model year, the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan will get a major makeover. For the upcoming model year, there will be multiple trims and new styling and technology to promote its captivating mixture of utility and performance. Modern features on the upcoming Tiguan range from interactive IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, touch panels, and many more.

After a facelift, the most-anticipated SUV is expected to arrive in dealerships later this quarter. Here’s what you should expect from the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan.

How The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Will Stand Against Its Competition

Based on its features and powertrain, Volkswagen Tiguan should compete well with other crossover counterparts, such as the Honda CR-V, and Volkswagen Atlas.

Between the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Honda CR-V, we think the CR-V has a better interior design. The factor that makes the Tiguan better than the Honda CR-V is the cabin space. While the CR-V offers space for five people, the Tiguan is offered as either a 5-seater model or as a 7-seater, which offers up to 73.5 cu. of cabin space.

The situation is the same with the Atlas, Subaru Forester, and RAV4 Line-up, which is a well-equipped alternative that offers a lot of cabin space, but still comes up short to the Tiguan SUV. Also, the Tiguan has more appealing features and a better interior appearance than the Atlas.

The exterior of the Tiguan pretty much resembles its predecessors, with a few new cues that bring out its modernized and noble appearance. The exterior includes updated LED lights, an enhanced grille, bumpers, and side sills. Car and Driver stated that the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Has a More Appealing New Front End, and we couldn’t agree more. On the back, the SUV bears an astounding “Tiguan” inscription, which complements the irresistible face.

The value-laden SUV will be available in four trims, ranging from the mid-range SE to the SE R-Line Black model, with the latter being the sportiest option of them all, both on the inside and out. The base model comes with standard driver assistance features, such as rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking system.

Besides the exterior, the Tiguan has received a major revamp to its interior. The cabin boasts updated technology and safety. The standard with an 8-inch display (with an optional 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro if you want to upgrade) outshines the whole Cockpit. Also, you get the Volkswagen Car-Net®, which works with Wi-Fi (right after you subscribe to a data plan). Other than that, the MIB3 infotainment comes standard in the second trim, along with features like mobile compatibility and a wireless charging pad.

In regards to its powertrain, the 2022 Tiguan has a turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 184 hp, which is not very fast but is enough to outdrive most of its competitors. This combines with steady, automatic transmission to offer a smooth driving performance. You will either get the standard front-wheel drive or the optional Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
