The all new Acura Integra certainly caused a stir when it was unveiled towards the back end of 2021. The nameplate had been absent from both the Honda and Acura lineups for some years, so the launch of the new car certainly created a lot of hype. What we have though is a car very much based on the new Civic Si platform, and not a true successor to the original Integra in the same way the new NSX was not a true successor to the original.

Whatever the case may be, however, the Integra is set to be a core part of the Acura lineup from now on. And there is good news for those who wish to purchase one of the cars. Acura have now announced that the new Integra is soon to be available to order for those who are keen on getting their hands on the new car. This is ahead of the car going on sale fully in Spring 2022, although there will be a limited supply of the new Integra initially for those who want to be early adopters to the car.

What You Need To Know About The Acura Integra

First, there is the release date. Acura have said that they will be taking orders for the new Integra from March 10th onwards ahead of its full sale launch later this Spring. Initially, it is believed there is going to be a limited supply of vehicles, which is written on the cars landing page, available to those who want to get their hands on the new Integra as soon as possible. At the moment, the pricing has not changed from the “around $30,000” mark but of course, that could well change as we get close to that March date for the sales.

The limited supply of the car initially could be put down to the ongoing chip shortage that pretty much the entire world is suffering, and has done for the last couple of years at least. There is then a chance supply of the new Integra could pick up as, hopefully, the chip issues for the globe are resolved. There is equally a chance that might be a pause in production should the chip problem not ease itself slightly, but that it something with which we will simply have to wait and see.

A Mystery As To What Customers Will Order

At the moment, despite the issuing of a sales date, there is still a bit of mystery about what exactly customers will be getting. We know that the car will use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. An engine Acura say will have a “high-output”. But we still have no exact numbers on this, and we are several months on from the launch and reveal of the car. Hopefully though that information will be released either on March 10th, or just before. It would be unusual if that were not to be the case.

We know that the Civic Si, in which a version of the Integra’s engine appears, makes 200 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque. So it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the power output of the new Integra to be somewhere in that ballpark. We do know though that customers will be able to choose either a six-speed manual, or some form of automatic gearbox. What form that gearbox comes in though is still undefined, but the Civic Si uses a CVT, so it could simply be that once again. Like the exact power figure, though, this will surely be revealed just before or on that March 10th sales launch date.

More Things That You Need To Know

We still do not have a clear view of the new car's interior. So that is something potential customers should keep their eyes out for, again this you would expect will be viewable come that March release date for sales. However, something people should be wary of. The official line for the sales date states that customers will be “on the list to be among the first to reserve a limited number of production units when the model goes on sale this Spring”. So you might simply be registering as one of the first to know when the order books open, but that’s not exactly clear.

Hoping The Hype Is Real

Ultimately, that is almost irrelevant. The first thing this car needs to do is live up to the hype that it has created for the last few months. Plus, it needs to do a lot of convincing, as it’s a not insignificant amount of people that have voiced concerns over the direction of the new Integra. Many feel it is simply just a Civic Si in fancy new clothes. There is also a lot of uncertainty around the car, with no one knowing how well it drives. But either way, it won’t be long before people will finally be able to put an order in for the returning Integra.
