There are only a few sedans that can offer pure excitement behind the wheel. Some are well-rounded, like the Kia Stinger GT2, and others are outrageously expensive, like the Maserati Quattroporte Trofeo. Cadillac isn't usually a name you would associate with excitement. In the end, the luxury GM brand is a lot of things, but it's not thrilling. Well, unless you have the letter "V" in its model, then all of that is out of the window. Cadillac has managed to produce some of the most fun cars with their V-Series models, and we got our hands on one of them. This 2023 Cadillac CT4 V-Series Blackwing is one of the most exciting sedans on the market today, and best of all, it is relatively affordable.

Some cars can be disappointing on paper, yet surprise you behind the wheel, and other models can do the exact opposite. The 2023 Cadillac CT4 V-Series Blackwing promises so much, and it's able to deliver on every promise. This four-door sedan sports a 3.6-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which works collaboratively with a 10-speed automatic. As a testament to GM's commitment to performance, the CT4 V-Series is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission, a dying breed in the automotive industry. The engine delivers 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque at just 3,500 RPM. Best of all, the power goes straight to the rear wheel, and with a press of a button, you can turn traction control off, and we will leave the rest to your imagination. Don't mistaken the CT4-V with the CT4-V Blackwing, however. The Blackwing sports the engine we mentioned above, but the CT4-V comes with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque - huge difference.

Despite 2022 model doing it just right, Cadillac improved further on the 2023 model. This is not to say they improved mechanically, instead, Cadillac gave the CT4 V-Series Blackwing some exclusivity. There will be three track editions for this vehicle, which GM will limit it to just 99 units for each of the trims. The first special edition model will be the Watkins Glen, which is based on Pipo Derani's sprint win in 2021. The second trim is Road Atlanta, and the third is Sebring. Each one of these will bring inspiration, design, and small touches that make for an instant classic. Of course, all will have the Collector Series plate that will add thousands of dollars to its value in the future.

While our loner's Electric Blue paint is sure to grab all eyes, the CT4 V-Series Blackwing doesn't necessary need the flashy color to get attention. This Cadillac has a beautiful, aggressive, and somehow elegant exterior that crosses the borders of normal sedans and into a new category that we will call super-sedans. The front features a bulging hood with innovative headlights. You can stare at the front for hours, and you will continue to appreciate the design of the long vertical LED light and how it flows with the horizontal piece. The rear somehow gets better with elegant taillights, and a ducklip spoiler that matches the trunk's design. The Blackwing package adds a lot, like the spoiler, decklid, aero parts, and the 18-inch alloy wheels. If you're into performance, this design delivers, if you're into luxury, this design delivers, and if you are into both, this design will combine them better than any other car.

Get behind the wheel of the 2023 Cadillac CT4 V-Series Blackwing, and you can't help but notice the red strip on the steering wheel. You don't think a red strip would change the feeling much, but it will surprise you of how much it changes your mentality behind the wheel. This cabin screams aggressive and luxury, and best of all, it does them both extremely well. To give you a small example of how well it combines them, this Blackwing offers almost track bolstering on the front seats, yet they have a message feature. The infotainment system comes with all of the bells and whistles, like the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but to get your money's worth, you'd need to take this sedan to the track once or twice a year. When you do so, you have the option of data recording, which will record your lap time with a video overlay - a testament to what this car is all about.

There is a ton of beauty to driving the CT4-V Blackwing. On your way to work, the adaptive suspension make for quite the comfortable ride. The exhaust noise is quiet, the suspension is soft, and the brake feel is soft to give you the experience you'd expect from a Cadillac. Put it in Sports mode, or V-Mode for full-on track settings, and the Blackwing will comes to life. Acceleration becomes instant and aggressive, like a hard punch in the stomach. The brakes become confident and strong, and the suspension is immediately tightened. The steering will feel precise and engaging, while the exhaust note will play throaty symphonies in your cabin. In other words, the CT4 V-Series Blackwing is as fun as a sedan can get. Zero to 60 mph data logger is also available at the flick of your right thumb, along with launch control. We managed a 0 to 60 mph time in 4.2 seconds without even turning off traction control.

Around corners, the CT4 V-Series Blackwing will make you feel planted and precise. With a ton of power going to the rear wheels, you never really feel like you will lose traction. This is mainly due to the electric limited-slip differential, which works almost flawlessly. While you will have a ton of fun in the driver's seat, the rear seat passengers won't be able to say the same thing. At 6'2", there is nearly no room behind me for a passenger, at all. If you look past the passengers, if you're not as tall, or if you have children with short legs, then everyone in this car should have loads of fun. Overall, the 2023 Cadillac CT4 V-Series Blackwing delivers in everything GM intended for it.

The only way to describe the CT4 V-Series Blackwing is that it offers unmatched value. For a starting MSRP of $61,890, there isn't anything else on the market that could offer nearly the same performance. It's arguably a better platform than the BMW M3. It must be noted that some of the material on the inside aren't as high quality as you'd think, but when you look at the MSRP and the performance, you will realize that it is still insane value. This is the kind of car you get when you never want to grow old. This is the car that you will take your kids to school with, and head straight to the track. If you are a true automotive enthusiast and you feel it's time for a sedan, look no further - you've found it.
