When it comes to pickup trucks, there are now more than a few pretenders on the crown of the segment, such as the Ram 1500, the GMC Sierra, and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. However, Ford still dominates the sales with its F-Series, reporting admirably high numbers, especially with the 2023 production year.

The 2023 Ford F-150 is as impressive as it gets. The newest pickup truck shines with a modern body design, turbocharged powertrains, a hybrid engine option, and the top-notch tech available. With as high as eight trims on offer, everyone can find the right F-150 for their needs and enjoy the rides both on- and off-road.

But while we wrote about the newest F-150 in many articles before, we haven't paid that much attention to the full hybrid version of this pickup truck. Yet, the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 deserves more space in the magazines because of its punchy spirit and impressive specs.

Let us show you what we mean exactly through our review of the 2023 F-150 Hybrid.

As the name suggests, the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 is the full hybrid powertrain that combines a twin-turbo V6 and a 35 kW electric motor to provide superior performance. In the 2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid, this powertrain pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a rear or all-wheel drive.

In this configuration, the hybrid powertrain delivers an impressive 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque — more than enough for a thrilling driving experience. When it comes to the 2023 F-150 Hybrid MPG, the EPA estimates 25 MPG in the city, on the highway, and combined on regular gasoline, although the rates vary for the four-wheel drive. For more specific information, it's best to check the official EPA website.

How Much Can The 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 Tow?

Another great thing about the 2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid is that this version allows for towing up to 12,700 pounds. That's quite an admirable rate for the pickup truck, and we expect it to attract many off-road enthusiasts.

However, it's worth noting that the top rating can vary depending on the cargo, vehicle configuration, and the chosen package. The Max Trailer Tow Package significantly improves the rating, especially when combined with the SuperCrew Cab and the Long Box, which increase the payload to 2,120 pounds.

However, while some SuperCrew Cabs are still available for the build, the Long Box is not. Ford states some trims and options are currently off the table due to the high demand and global supply-chain constraints, so we suppose this is the reason for the limited build options.

Which Is Faster: 3.5L EcoBoost Or PowerBoost?

Alongside the dazzling 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6, the 2023 Ford F-150 comes with an array of other exciting engines, including the 2.7L EcoBoost V6, the 3.3L TI-VCT V6, the High-Output 3.5L EcoBoost, and the inevitable 5.0L TI-VCT V8. But the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is most similar to the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6. It does develop fewer ponies than the latter but not significantly, and without sacrificing the fun and overall capability.

The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 provides 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque to ensure almost as equally swift rides as the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6. Even more interestingly, the former comes with 14,000 lbs of maximum towing capacity, which is more than its more powerful sibling can provide. However, it's worth noting again that this rating depends on the other vehicle configurations and the purchased towing packages.

Let's talk prices. The cost of the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 depends on the trim. With the Lariat, the powertrain costs $3,300, and with the King Ranch and the Platinum, it costs $2,500. On the other hand, the hybrid is free of cost and included as standard on the Limited, and free for adding to the Tremor. The Raptor only uses the EcoBoost and the V8.

That's not much for the powertrain alone, then? Not at all, especially if you go for the trims that include the 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 as standard in the offer. However, other expenses can quickly add up during the build, especially as Ford gives buyers many attractive options to choose from for an ultimate custom build.

We should also highlight that the difference between the trims is significant. The base 2023 Ford F-150 XL starts at a reasonable $33,695, but the top-notch 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor starts at a chilling $76,775. Then, there are six trims in between with corresponding prices, and they are not low.

You may have also already noticed that if you choose the base and the lowest-priced XL, you can't go with the full hybrid powertrain. The 2023 Ford F-150 XL 3.5l V6 Hybrid SuperCrew Cab Long Box is not available as an option in these specific powertrain, cab, and box options. The Lariat is the first next trim you can get to offer you the hybrid, which means you must pay $57,480 to start with.
