Having redesigned the Civic, CR-V, and Pilot, it's time for Honda to release the new Accord for the 2023 model year. Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, the new Accord takes the extraordinary step of making its hybrid variants the most coveted.

After a long previous generation run, this new generation introduces a reinforced body and upgraded technologies. The brand opted to get that extra power from electric motors instead of the V6 engines or more potent turbocharged 4-cylinder engines that other automakers often provide in the higher trims of their midsize cars.

The vehicle has an improved version of the Honda Sensing suite in the 2023 Accord, which now includes a new wide field-of-view camera and enhanced radar sensors.

With a new look, optional amenities like built-in Google and a spirited hybrid engine, the 11th-generation Accord takes on the Hyundai Sonata and the Toyota Camry. We’ve put together all the features of the new Accord, and why you should buy it.

The New Honda Accord Gets An Updated Look

The 2023 generation of the Accord demonstrates the automaker's newfound stylistic talent on so many levels, starting with a new front end that replaces the current model’s grille, with a more conventional and squared-off grille, aligning with the headlights. Instead of having a rounder appearance like the model year before, the sedan's front end sports a blunter shape. We think the front end gets a faint Audi appeal to it.

And for the first time, a single horizontal air inlet now protrudes from the bottom of the front fascia. The new Accord retains its sloping roofline, which doesn’t affect rear headroom. Although it receives a new conventional squared-off taillight design, the rear end is not as rounded off as it once was. Despite being 2.7 inches longer than the previous model, the wheelbase remains unchanged in the new Accord.

The brand took an effort in adding some desirable features to the lower-end LX, EX, and EX-L models. These trim levels now feature 17-inch alloy wheels, a black grille mesh, and body-color side mirrors as standard. The sporty variants, Sport and Sport-L, come with Black side mirrors, a black rear spoiler, black 19-inch alloy wheels, and black rear diffusers. The unique gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels, silver, and black exterior trim, and a high-contrast appearance are all included in the top-tier Touring trim package.

A More Potent And Efficient Hybrid Powertrain

The LX and EX trim levels have a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 192 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 192 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 and 5,000 RPM. The engine transmits power to the front wheels using a constantly variable automatic gearbox. For the time being, this will be the only gas engine option for the 2023 Accord.

Buyers who want a more powerful engine should opt for the Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring trim levels, which get a new hybrid powertrain. Comprising a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas-propelled engine and two electric motors, the total system output is 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque between 5,000 and 8,000 RPM. Although there is nine fewer horsepower than previously, it makes 15 lb-ft more torque. Honda also claims that the new technology is more refined and responsive at high speeds, which gets us more excited. Using the 2022 models as reference, the fuel economy numbers on the hybridized Accords should be around 44 MPG city and 41 MPG highway for the Sport and Touring models, as well as 48 MPG city and 47 MPG highway on the EX-L.

When you first look inside the 2023 Accord, you'll see Honda's recognizable design, but with a newer perspective and a straightforward dashboard layout. The air vents now cover almost the whole width of the dashboard, with the infotainment system nearly hoarded at the top. Extensive HVAC system controls are still present on the center console but are now positioned lower part. Despite its length, the 2023 Accord has roughly the same amount of back legroom as the outgoing model, at 40.8 inches.

The Accord 2023 will come with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports, and a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Features like a 12.30-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad are also included on higher trim levels. This year's Accord includes Google features like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play.

The 2023 Honda Accord will come with two USB ports, an Apple CarPlay touchscreen, and Android Auto. Higher trim levels will have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.30-inch touchscreen, and a wireless charging pad. Additionally, the system comes with Google, providing Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play.

Every new Accord includes a customizable 10.2-inch digital driver information display. Naturally, the hybrid models will inform the driver of the drivetrain's condition.

According to the automaker, the new Honda Accord will go on sale in early 2023. Honda hasn't officially revealed the 2023 Accord's price, but we can bet that it will be more expensive than the present model, which has prices ranging from $27,615 to $39,940.

While the Accord nameplate isn’t as popular and sort-after as it was in the past, it still boldly squares up against the Toyota Camry, which starts at around $26K, the Hyundai Sonata, which starts at $25K, and the Subaru Legacy at $24.4K.
