The 2023 Nissan Rogue is here to spice up what is already an impressive line-up of crossovers in the Japanese automaker's portfolio. If you're looking for a ride that hauls your family around, is packed with the latest technology, and looks perfect parked outside a club, the updated Rogue is the crossover you could possibly consider at this point; perhaps maybe even over a Hyundai Tucson.

It got a completely new look two model years back, and it's certainly given the Rogue a fresh lease of life. It also came with a segment-first engine in the form of a Variable Compression Turbo engine for this year. It packed more power and torque, and managed a great fuel economy figure as well, thanks to the innovative engine.

The 2023 model is out with some all-important updates, and we take a closer look to see if it's the best model year of the Rogue you can buy.

2023 Nissan Rogue Looks Stylish

There's a new Midnight Edition package that's now available on the Rogue SV - this gives it a smoked-out look with gloss black exterior mirror caps, 18-inch gloss black aluminum alloy wheels, a gloss-black front V-motion grille, and a lot of other blacked-out details, like the badging on the outside, the lower front, and rear inserts, roof rails, a rear diffuser, and leatherette seating.

Let's talk a little more about how it looks because this thing would look cool even with Paris Hilton stepping out of it. It looks smart, the 2023 Rogue - even if parked right next to the Hyundai Tucson. The lower stance is so much more attractive than the previous-gen Rogue.

The older one looked a bit malnourished - like it wasn't eating enough potatoes! The body is shorter now, the V-shaped grille is taller and bolder to look at. It may look a bit like a block from the front, but not a block of carved stoned; more like a carefully designed Lego block that has a shape to it instead. The split LED headlights to look radical and separate high and low beams, further separated by the body color.

The aggressive look is bound to make on-lookers curious about it. The side profile has a sharp line that's seen along the door panels and fenders. The rear looks neat and stylish, not neat and boring. In fact, there are some RAV4 details if you look hard enough. You can opt for 19-inch wheels too, but 17-inchers come standard.

There a multiple details inside the Rogue that won't hold you back from considering it. The butterfly-style center console opening makes it easy for the passengers up-front to pass on items to the ones sitting in the second row. The second-row doors open to nearly 90 degrees, making ingress and egress easy.

There are also useful sunshades for second-row passengers: a practical touch in our opinion. The cargo area is spacious and flexible; even more so when the second-row seats are lowered. Items can also be stored away under the floor, and for the 2023 model, there's a power liftgate on offer as well.

We particularly like the short shifter on the lower-grade Rogues, while the SL and Platinum models get wood-grain trim, quilted stitching of synthetic leather upholstery, and some nice metallic trim that looks premium. Then there's a huge touchscreen on the dashboard, plus there's a digital gauge display on certain models.

The Rogue Platinum and SL Premium packages include Amazon Alexa, which can play music, make calls and control smart home devices with a simple voice command.

2023 Nissan Rogue Gets A Variable Compression Turbo Engine

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is powered by a 1.5-liter, Variable Compression Turbo engine that pushes out 201hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. The latest-generation Xtronic gearbox works in sync with the engine in order to offer better acceleration, while also reducing fuel consumption.

It is said to be not as quick as expected, but the 3-cylinder turbo engine makes more power and torque than the 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine that it replaced. It launches from the get-go with zeal, and the gearbox manages low-end power without any delay. We wouldn't recommend the Rogue for highways, but it's a perfect crossover for the city.

Pre-Ordering The 2023 Nissan Rogue Is A No-Brainer

At an MSRP of just $27,360, it's a crossover that covers a lot of good aspects with very little to complain about. The engine isn't particularly quick, but for the family man on a budget, that's hardly going to matter. It comes in various grades, so there's a Nissan Rogue for everyone. Just don't forget about what we said about Paris Hilton stepping out of one.
