Land Rover has taken the curtains off the redesigned 2023 Range Rover Sport. It follows in the footsteps of the redesigned Range Rover that was unveiled in 2022. The Sport packs a slew of refreshed powertrains, although those looking for fierce performance will have to wait a bit longer for the 5.0-liter V8-packed Range Rover Sport SVR to shed its camouflage.

But the current line-up has a wide range of engine options, including a new PHEV variant. It will also bring about an all-electric powertrain in the future, thanks to the new flexible underpinning. But the highlighting part of the Range Rover Sport is its design language. The minimalist approach gives it a soothing outlook (clearly the opposite of what it can do on and off the roads!). The exterior design is clean and there are no protruding elements.

It is almost impossible to look at it like a brawny SUV with off-road capabilities, due to the subtle design appeal. The interior also follows a similar design language with minimalism and an origami-like layout. It reminds us of the minimal yet plush interior of the 2023 Genesis G90. But despite all the simplicity, Land Rover has not dulled down on complexity in terms of technology and features. The 2023 Range Rover Sport looks unique and makes a mark against the likes of BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Volvo XC90.

2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport puts minimalism and sophistication into one frame to please your ASMR.

2023 Range Rover Sport Exterior Design: As Flush As It Gets

At first, the redesigned exterior might not seem to be a lot different than last year's Range Rover Sport. But the longer you look, the cooler the new design turns out to be. The silhouette hasn't changed much, but the new Sport gets a slightly shorter front overhang and longer rear. The stance has also been tweaked with the front quarter rising marginally. The front fascia is highlighted by sleeker LED headlamps and smaller grilles. The side profile is where the new Range Rover Sport's minimalism shines forth.

There are no bumps, just a smooth flowing plane that makes the side look like it's been carved out of a single metal sheet. Complementing this ASMR look are cool 21-inch wheels. And if those are "tiny" for you, then Land Rover has gigantic 23-inch wheels as an option as well! The Dynamic trim gets unique exterior cues that include graphite- and copper-colored exterior accents. The rear fascia gets new sleeker and wider taillights that sit on a blacked-out trim.

The roof gets two radical antenna fins which twin along with the dual exhaust ports on either side of the blacked-out lower section of the bumper. All of these minimal design cues bundle up to make a very slippery surface that helps the 2023 Range Rover Sport have a low drag coefficient of 0.29. For reference, the Tesla Model S which is considered to be one of the most aerodynamic production cars has a drag coefficient of 0.24.

The minimal theme is carried over to the interior as well for the 2023 RR Sport's cabin. The dashboard has a very soothing layout and looks like sheets of paper have been stacked on top of each other. The minimal design gives peace and the blue ambient lighting adds to the tranquility. The cabin space has gone up, thanks to the new platform which adds to the seating comfort. The sophistication in terms of technology is impressively hidden, behind all the simplicity and elegance.

The dashboard is garlanded with a slew of displays. The instrument cluster is a 13.7-inch unit that is called the Interactive Driver Display4. The cool slanting 13.1-inch curved infotainment unit gets all the connectivity goodies including the Amazon Alexa voice commands. Land Rover offers OTA updates to take care of all the Range Rover Sport's sophistication. The stock audio system is valiant, but it also gets an optional 29-speaker Meridian audio system.

The 2023 Range Rover Sport might look all clean and minimal, but don't let that fool you into thinking that it's only made for civilized stuff! True to its DNA, the Sport can take you places. On the roads, things have become sharper with its improved optional rear-axle steering.

It can steer the rear wheels by up to 7.3 degrees for heightened cornering ability. The main support system for this SUV's off-roading capabilities is its Dynamic Air suspension which comes as standard. On top-spec trims, the Sport can be equipped with Dynamic Air Suspension Pro which adds roll control.

Then comes the plug-in variant of this six-cylinder motor with 434 hp and 619 lb-ft. The most powerful engine currently is a BMW-sourced twin-turbo 4.4-Liter V8 with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft. Land Rover has also confirmed an all-electric iteration in the making, slated for 2024. And the silent powertrain will fit the clean design perfectly.
