After being unveiled more than three years ago and advertised to be drastically capable, the deliveries of the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck are finally expected to start by the end of this year. The highly anticipated Tesla truck separates itself from the rest of the pickup truck crowd by flaunting a design unique to itself. But, ever since the Cybertruck's first reveal in 2019, competitors have started taking giant leaps by introducing electrified versions of their popular pickup trucks. Also, the inception of the Rivian R1T pickup and the electrified metempsychosis of the iconic Hummer after a 12-year hiatus have set new benchmarks in the pickup truck market.

So then, after all these new happenings, what keeps the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck relevant and is it still worth ordering and waiting for one? There are multiple reasons to cool your heels patiently for Tesla’s most standout product. We will go through each of them while also looking at the very much anticipated Cybertruck release date and the Tesla truck price.

What Makes The Cybertruck Special And Is It Still Worth Ordering One?

The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck looks like it was brought along by aliens, taken from a sci-fi movie, or even like a Mars rover developed by NASA. If its demeanor doesn’t make it special enough for you, then there are the specs, features, and capabilities it is promised to deliver at a competitive price point. The unique steel shell of the truck which Tesla calls an exoskeleton is the first and foremost standout element of the truck. It is constructed from super-durable stainless steel that is strengthened by cold rolling 30 times which is a process in which metal is squeezed and compressed below its recrystallization temperature increasing its yield strength and hardness.

The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck's toughness isn’t limited to its frame and chassis. The glass area of the Tesla truck isn’t conventional like what other brands offer. Tesla uses toughened glass further reinforced by a polymer-layered composite which is claimed to be able to absorb and withstand impacts that could shatter normal glass. Also, all Cybertruck models feature an adaptable air suspension setup which allows raising and lowering the truck up to four inches in either direction. The rigidity, flexibility, and structural integrity translate to exceptional capabilities on and off the road and that makes the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck a worthy buy.

The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck proudly holds up the performance legacy the brand’s other ‘models’ have built up over the years. Tesla offers three variants of the Cybertruck starting off with a rear-wheel-drive single-motor base model, stepping up to an AWD mid-spec trim with a dual-motor setup, and topping off with a triple-motor all-wheel-drive model. The single-motor Cybertruck according to Tesla can propel to 60mph in 6.5 seconds and is limited to a speed of 110mph while the mid-spec trim ups those numbers to 4.5 seconds and 120mph, respectively. The triple-motor flagship model is wicked-fast, achieving a 0-60 speed of 2.9 seconds and being restricted at 130mph.

Tesla claims the base model to provide a range of more than 250 miles which is upgraded to 300+ miles in the dual-motor version while the highest-end triple-motor trim boasts a range of 500+ miles. Also, the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck doesn’t disappoint when it comes to towing and payload capacities. It has a 6.4-foot cargo bed with 100 cu-ft of available storage space and a maximum payload capacity of 3,500 lbs which is more than what any other electric pickup truck currently offers. Topping that off with a claimed class-leading 14,000lbs towing capacity, Tesla has gone all-out ensuring that their Cybertruck is the best of the segment.

The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck not only overpowers its competitors in terms of performance, it also undercuts them with its pricing. Cybertrucks start at $39,900 for the base single-motor trim, adds another $10,000 to the dual-motor trim costing $49,900 while the bellwether tri-motor variant will set you back $69,900.

Both the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck and the upcoming Chevy electric truck – the Silverado EV are expected to start at $39,900 and these will be the most affordable offerings among electric trucks. Other current options in the segment (and their starting prices) include the Ford F-150 Lightning ($55,974), the Lordstown Endurance ($65,060), the Rivian R1T ($73,000), and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup ($79,995).

When Can You Buy The 2023 Tesla Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck was supposed to go on sale back in 2021, but it hasn’t started deliveries yet. The main reason for this is actually the Cybertruck’s fundamental structural advantage itself. Using stainless steel to construct an automobile is a complex and strenuous process. This on top of the fact that the material itself costs much more than regular steel might have contributed to slowing down the production.

As of now, the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck is already available to order on the Tesla website with a fully refundable booking charge of $100. However, the mass production of the Cybertruck has been reported to be delayed to the second half of 2023, and we predict deliveries to begin by the end of the year. On the contrary, full-blown production of the Cybertruck in large numbers is expected to start only in 2024.
