Few thought we would see the day, but the 2023 Toyota Prius is quite the looker. With this incoming year, the Toyota Prius goes from a car that didn't turn too many heads to a car that is the envy of the environmentally conscious gearhead's eye.

There are many reasons why the new Toyota Prius is on our wishlist. Not only is this hybrid sleek and elegantly styled, but it packs a punch in one unassuming, battery-powered package. Toyota granted the Prius a massive overhaul in all the ways for 2023, and it shows. One could even go so far as to say that the 2023 Prius is one of the best new cars that money can buy.

Toyota broadened their horizons when it comes to customer base. Older models of the Prius were too inoffensive in their approach to style that they bordered on actually being offensive due to how bland they looked. Now, drivers no longer have to make a decision between looks and saving the planet. You will find gearheads from all walks of life behind the wheel of the 2023 Toyota Prius, and that's a win for Toyota.

The 2023 Toyota Prius is more efficient, better styled, and faster than its predecessor. This stunning hybrid is the most powerful version of the Prius to date, and it makes us hopeful for what's to come from Toyota and their hybrid/EV ambitions.

We actually want to own the 2023 Toyota Prius, and this is why.

What To Expect With The 2023 Toyota Prius

Toyota turned heads with their unveiling of the 2023 Toyota Prius. What was one of the first hybrid cars has definitely grown up with its styling.

The new Prius looks closer to the electric vehicles it now competes with, like the Tesla Model 3 or Hyundai Ioniq. New features include a glass roof in the Limited or Limited AWD models, a range of up to 57 mpg, and every model comes with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine. The base model MSRP starts at $27,450.

With its astonishing 196 horsepower, it can reach 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. This makes the 2023 Prius a great contender for a nimble hybrid. The 2023 Prius has a digital HUD in front of the steering wheel as well as an infotainment screen in the center. While the standard is front-wheel drive, there is an all-wheel drive option that lowers the mpg a bit by 5 miles on average. Not that we would complain about that fuel efficiency.

Toyota is offering six grades which include the LE, LE AWD, XLE, XLE AWD, Limited, and Limited AWD. While that can seem like a lot to keep track of, let us break it down. The LE, XLE, and Limited all have all-wheel drive options. With each step up, there are more add-ons. Some of these include the 19-inch wheel upgrade in the mid-ranges, and the glass roof in the highest grades. The highest priced option is the Limited AWD, which has an MSRP of $35,865.

Interior Features We Love About The New Toyota Prius

The 2023 Prius doesn't shy away from flexing its interior style. If you go for the priciest option, you get all the features available. And we won't blame you, for all the interior attributes you'll gain.

These features include a boost from the 8-inch multimedia screen to a 12.3 inch display. The 8-speaker JBL audio system would be a great option for audiophiles who want a turnkey possibility, and not have to bother with third-party upgrades. The glass roof, heated seats, and digital rearview mirror alone make the Limited grade worth it. Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto are important options in the higher classes for a more seamless experience on the digital side.

The interior itself is straightforward, with an intuitive layout that doesn’t feel like you’ll get lost. What more could you ask for?

The styling of the previous Toyota Prius models was not anything to write home about. The 2023 Toyota Prius has made strides into the current generation with a nod to its previous silhouette.

Its quick 0 to 60 mph time puts it up with most ICE cars, and the fuel efficiency puts most other hybrids to shame. The Prius is reclaiming its spot as a serious hybrid and an overall innovative car – just like when it first entered the market.

Other Hybrids We Are Looking Forward To In 2023

Toyota has several other hybrids coming our way. Be on the lookout for hybrid versions of the Corolla, Camry, or Avalon which are all great options if a Prius still isn't your thing, but you want the Toyota reliability.

We're also looking forward to the 2023 Hyundai Elantra hybrid, which has a starting price of $25,000 and a great mpg of up to 56 mpg on the freeway. The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid is also a great contender for those looking for something with a great entry price while being effective. Anticipated to start in the $24,000 range, it will boast a freeway range of up to 60 mpg.

With so many hybrid and EV possibilities these days, buying a Toyota Prius is still a great choice – especially with the 2023 model.
