For the 2024 model year, Chevrolet has revamped its Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD pickup trucks. If you are wondering what the term "HD" stands for, it simply means "heavy-duty". It gives you a glimpse of what the truck can do.

These vehicles are massive, in size and strength, and are designed for towing and heavy-duty activities. New grilles featuring bigger Chevy bow-ties and flashier C-shaped headlights give the huge Silverado a more commanding appearance up front.

The Silverado HD for 2024 has a new exterior design, an updated interior (more of this later), a sleek new infotainment screen, improved trailer capabilities, and crucial standard active safety features. In addition, there will be a brand-new ZR2 off-road model and a High Country Midnight Series that is incredibly luxurious.

The 6.6-liter gasoline V8 engine comes back with the same power output, but a 10-speed automatic gearbox is now standard instead of the 6-speed it had before. The turbo-diesel V8 has greater power now, with a capacity to produce 470 horsepower.

The Chevy Silverado HD can tow a massive 36,000 pounds when outfitted with the additional turbo-diesel and a twin rear-wheel configuration. Note that the custom trims get the new style on the outside but not the inside. The LTZ, LT, ZR2, and High Country grades receive the exterior and interior styling change.

The C-shaped LED graphic lights that encircle the headlights are the most dynamic feature of the Silverado HD's exterior style, which draws inspiration from the appearance of the 2022 Silverado 1500. The grille no longer divides the headlights into two separate units. The truck's imposing hood air vent now boldly displays the word "Chevrolet," and the new grille incorporates a giant Chevrolet clover logo.

According to Chevrolet, the new High Country Midnight Edition has a "bold, color-keyed exterior" and all the top-notch High Country's added features. The Silverado HD's interior has received much attention and now appears more upscale and welcoming. The 12.3-inch instrument panel can be customized, while the 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system is sloped with a 6-degree tilt toward the driver are the two most noticeable modifications.

It also has a head-up display that displays critical information for the driver on the windshield and wireless device charging. The High Country trim's higher level has leather-wrapped surfaces and piping for a genuine luxury-truck appearance.

There’s a new game-changer in town. And it’s of course the brand-new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD we’re talking about. Both Silverado HD turbo engines are equipped with the renowned Allison 10-speed automatic transmission for the first time.

The Silverado HD also features several unique towing-specific options. It possesses an alert system that notifies the driver if the pickup truck and trailer weight exceeds the vehicle's gross combined weight rating. Additionally, a new Adaptive Cruise Control with Towing feature accounts for the weight.

The 2500HD and 3500HD models from the Silverado HD family come in regular, double, and crew cab versions. On 3500HD versions, a dual-rear-wheel drive is an option that enables the maximum trailer capacity in the lineup (36,000 pounds).

Chevrolet has also made several necessary functional safety features standard on all 2024 Silverado HD models. This features lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning with pedestrian detection.

The new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD will have its public debut at the State Fair of Texas. The celebrations commenced on September 29 with a press day, and the truck will be on display during the public days. Chevrolet will reveal pricing and more information closer to the beginning of manufacturing, which starts in the first half of 2023.
