Ford has announced the power numbers for the 2024 Mustang, and although the engines are the same displacement as in the current models, there will be revisions that provide an increase in horsepower.

The all-new 2024 Ford Mustang will include a Dark Horse model with 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque coming from its 5.0-liter Coyote V8 motor. That same engine in the Mustang GT will pump out 480 hp which is an increase from the 450 hp of the 2023 GT model. An optional performance exhaust bumps it up further to 486 hp.

The torque figure for the GT will be the same as the Dark Horse. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard on the GT, with a ten-speed automatic optional.

Ecoboost Receives Small Bump In Power

The 2.3-liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine will continue on as the base motor in the 2024 Ford Mustang. This powerplant is now rated at 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. That represents a 5 hp increase from the 2023 base Mustang, although that model offered an optional Performance Package which raised the output to 330 hp.

One big change is that Ford is doing away with the manual transmission for Mustangs with the EcoBoost engine. The ten-speed automatic will be the only available transmission for the four-pot Mustang.
