As the EV market keeps growing, many automakers do not want to be left behind. Maserati also plunged into this upscale market, showing off its first electric vehicle, the 2024 GranTurismo Folgore, in a grand way.

Last week, the Italian automaker posted a short clip on its YouTube channel. The title of this clip, "roaring in California'' shows that they want the world to see how powerful this new EV is. In this clip, the car was revving at a high-speed. There were two representatives of the company in the car. They also had a guest, Sebastian Maniscalco, the popular American stand-up comedian and actor. The actor showed his pure excitement for this new electric car. In his opinion, Electric vehicles were boring. However, the 2024 GranTurismo is about to change that narrative.

The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore is the perfect blend of luxury and sportiness. Maserati talked about the new EV's style, elegance, and performance in the video. They painted a picture of how much fun the car will be when it finally goes into production. However, the automaker only gave a handful of details about its new all-electric car. Let's look at some of the details in the video.

A Close Look At The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo Folgore

You might notice that Maserati uses the moniker "Folgore" for more than one vehicle. You are correct! Folgore is Maserati's brand name for all its electric cars. In Italian, Folgore means lightning. So, all Maserati EVs including the 2024 GranTurismo bear this name.

Like the previous models, we know that this car will be lightweight and compact. However, being an EV brings many other differences. Based on the name Folgore, Maserati promises its fans a lightning-quick acceleration. They claim that the vehicle features a mid-engine which generates more than 1,200 horsepower for the wheels. Additionally, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of more than 200 mph! These numbers double the GranTurismo's performance from 2021!

Sound is one of the excitement point for sports car enthusiasts. We all know that EVs can be dead quiet. Therefore, Maserati had to come up with another plan to substitute for the deep growl that sports cars give when they rev. They achieved this by making a special sound effect that mimics this noise. When the car is officially unveiled, the automaker will make more of this information public.

Maserati also promised a superfast charging speed, even though it did not reveal the overall range of this model. It stated that the car will be able to regain a range of 100 miles, after charging for 10 minutes. The automaker remains silent about other important details about the car's engine.

The new EV has a regal exterior. It looks like the ICE model without camouflage. The car has beautiful flowing lines and similar dimensions to the ICE model. Its bumper's double split gives it a distinct and aggressive look. Similar to the MC20 supercar, Its headlights are vertical, with air channels separating them.

The major difference on the exterior is the front grille. It looks new, more round, and larger than it is on the ICE model. Rather than being innovative, this design looks renovative. Since Maserati is popular for having a unique look among other Italian supercars, we are sure that this new car won't fall behind in this also.

One of the things Maserati chose to keep under wraps until the vehicle's formal debut is the interior. In the released clip, Maserati blurred out the car's interior, showing only the center console and the individual seats.

Regardless, Maria Konti, the chief communication officer for the automaker, disclosed some things to expect in its interior. She stressed comfort as being a great motivation in carving its interior. The car is also made of carbon fiber. According to Maserati, the interior of this car reflects that the best materials can be environmentally friendly.

The most exciting thing about its interior is the absence of buttons. Unlike most new cars, the new EV won't have lots of buttons clouding every meaningful space in the car. In the words of Maria Konti, this car is "really clean and elegant."

Maserati didn't discuss this car's price or release date in the video. However, we can make expect this car to make its debut in 2023.

On the other hand, trying to judge the price might be a little tardy. This is because the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is the first electric car for this model. We are certain that this vehicle will cost more than the 2021 model. This model was LPG-powered and had its price starting from $157,000.

Till 2023, we await this grand car that Sebastian described as having "the luxury of a sedan and the feel of a sports car."
