Richard Hammond is one of the most famous automotive journalists in the world. Along with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, he is the go to source when it comes to reviewing cars. Fans all over the world look to him for advice on shows like Top Gear and the Grand Tour. So, he would naturally have quite an impressive car collection. His tastes are very eclectic when it comes to cars. He's not above driving around in something compact like a Fiat 500, but he also loves to go off road in something like a Land Rover. He absolutely loves Porsches, and he has owned quite a few of them over the years. His collection has featured some very unique autos over the years such as a Morgan Aeromax and a Lagonda, which are two very classical looking cars despite be made over 75 years apart from each other. Hammond also loves American muscle and pony cars. He has owned numerous Mustangs, as well as a Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger. He buys convenient cars to use as daily drivers, but he also buys cars that are a lot of fun. Take a look below to see 25 amazing cars in Richard Hammond's garage.

25 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390

via planetadelmotor.com

The Mustang is a quintessential car in any car collection, and clearly, Richard Hammond knows that. When he reviewed the classic Mustang on Top Gear, he called the iconic car one of the ‘seven wonders of the world.’

His Mustang is a 1968 model with a 6.4-litre V8 under the hood, which means it can produce just over 300 bhp. This Mustang became so iconic thanks to the movie Bullitt.

James May and Jeremy Clarkson may not be in love with American muscle cars, but Hammond definitely loves American cars, particularly pony cars and muscle cars.

24 1963 Opel Kadett

via drivetribe

Hammond has certainly grown attached to his tiny Opel Kadett. It may not be a particularly valuable car, but to Hammond, it has a lot of sentimental value. Hammond drove the little Opel all the way across the spine of Africa in an episode of Top Gear.

Despite it being nearly drowned in a river, the car survived. Hammond then had the car shipped back to the UK and restored to be part of his personal collection. We think the car earned its place in his garage.

23 1942 Ford GPW

via youtube

The GPW is a true American hero. How many other vehicles are such a part of history? This manly off roader played its part in defeating the Nazis, and it has stood the test of time.

Hammond found this war hero rusting away in a barn, and he vowed to restore this trusty jeep back to its former glory.

That’s a very commendable thing for Hammond to do for such an iconic piece of motoring history. Plus, he gets a nice vehicle to add to his personal collection.

22 1985 Land Rover Range Rover Classic

via www.landrovercentre.com

This sport utility vehicle certainly is a classic. After all, it’s right in the name. If you want to head off road but maintain some class then this luxurious 1985 model is just the vehicle for you. Hammond clearly recognized the perfection of this Range Rover.

Few SUVs perfectly blend ruggedness and sophistication quite like the Range Rover Classic.

Hammond describes sitting in a Range Rover as pure opulence. To him, it’s like sitting in a throne rather than an SUV. “It’s not a car, it’s an unstoppable force,” he said.

21 1987 Land Rover Defender 110

via www.classicdriver.com

Did we mention that Hammond loves Land Rovers? Well, he really, really loves Land Rovers. He has owned numerous Land Rovers over the years, and this one might be the most spectacular.

The raised suspension and roll cage make this Defender 110 a beast off-road. However, if you look closely you can still see a bit of class and sophistication underneath all that dust and dirt. Sadly, Hammond parted ways with this beast and sold it at auction. Hammond reportedly spent as much as 100,000 USD modifying the Bigfoot-esque Defender.

20 1950 Bentley S1

via via drivetribe

Hammond’s fully-restored Bentley S1 is a real beauty, and that’s partly due to one of his special requests when the restoration was being done. Hammond asked for white-wall tires, and this simple little upgrade really makes the car stand out. It’s a little bit of extra pizazz, but it’s so very subtle.

Without the white trim, it’s likely the all-black Bentley S1 would look a bit drab and dull. Don’t you think?

Now it’s even classier than it was before.

19 1931 Lagonda

via www.autoevolution.com

You know you’re a car nut when you use something like a 1931 Lagonda as a daily driver. Hammond was feeling quite bored after Top Gear ended, and he decided to relive that boredom by showing off the obscure 1931 Lagonda on his Youtube page.

He took this beauty down to the shops on Sunday and enjoyed every minute of it. The two-liter, supercharged tourer is an odd choice for a daily driver, but an old-timey luxury British car is certainly a head turner.

18 Jaguar E-Type

via www.bmwz8.us

Its siren call has lured me out into the rain to paddle across the yard and peer at it through a crack in the garage doors,” wrote Hammond of his pale blue 1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster MK1 in a Top Gear column.

Hammond said he has always loved this car, and recalled a moment in childhood when he saw one in a showroom. That’s when his love for the Jaguar E-Type began.

He thought about buying one for many years, and his childhood love of the car meant he finally took the plunge and bought one.

17 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8

Being forced to buy a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 would be a problem all of us would love to have. The re-launch of the iconic Dodge Challenger is one of Dodge’s greatest successes, and it’s easily the best modern muscle car on the market.

In season 12 of Top Gear, the guys traveled across America in muscle cars, and Hammond had to buy the Challenger because he wasn’t able to borrow one.

Luckily, Hammond loved the cool muscle car.

16 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS PDK

via www.autoevolution.com

It’s no secret that Richard Hammond loves the Porsche 911. He once owned a 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS PDK. He loved the car and took good care of it, but he decided to eventually sell it at auction.

His version was a classic gray German sports car with lava orange interior and black leather. It's a true beauty, and whoever bought the amazing car from Hammond is very lucky to own a car that was as well cared for as this Porsche was.

15 1976 Toyota Corolla Liftback

via flickr.com

This was the first car that Hammond ever owned, and he absolutely destroyed it. The red 1976 Toyota Corolla Liftback was put through hell by Hammond’s driving, and eventually, it couldn’t take it anymore.

Hammond really loved the car though, and he even painted a Japanese flag on the roof of the compact Japanese car. He made many other modifications including racing stripes with electrical tape and a rear window with an eagle engraved on it. He eventually wrecked the car when he sideswiped a Volvo.

14 1994 BMW 850Ci

via youtube

Hammond bought this beater for an episode of Top Gear where he and Clarkson were challenged to find an old car that was a better deal than a brand new 10,000 USD Nissan Pixo.

The 1994 model still worked wonders, and Hammond was particularly pleased with his purchase. The pop-up headlamps on this BMW were particularly impressive to Hammond.

It may have been grimy on the inside, but the 850CSi was still in solid condition after many years.

13 2009 Aston Martin DBS Volante

via FavCars.com

To celebrate his 40th birthday, Richard Hammond decided to treat himself. He bought two cars for his milestone birthday, and one of them was a 2009 Aston Martin DBS Volante.

The Volante is propelled by a 5.9-litre V12 engine and capable of putting out 510 bhp and 420 lb/ft of torque. The impressive British supercar goes from zero to 60 in a mere 4.3 seconds, and it is able to reach a top speed of 308 km/h. Talk about a cool birthday present.

12 2008 Morgan Aeromax

via lamborghinihuracan.com

The Morgan Aeromax is an exclusive and extremely weird auto. It doesn’t look like a modern car in any way whatsoever, but rather it looks like a vintage model from the 1930s.

The Aeromax is powered by a 4.8-liter BMW sourced V8 engine which can deliver around 360 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque. Hammond sold this bizarre and weird car back in 2011, but he certainly enjoyed owning it for the short time that he had it in his garage.

11 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder

via www.caranddriver.com

Hammond paid $260,000 USD for this all black Lamborghini.

He reportedly bought the car in all black so it would match his helicopter. It’s a very impressive supercar, and no doubt Hammond is happy to have it in his garage.

He actually bought another car around the same time: a Fiat 500, which he purchased for his wife. We can tell who got the better deal there. Pretty much everyone in the world would prefer a Lambo to a Fiat.

10 1969 Dodge Charger R/T

via youtube

Hammond is a huge fan of American muscle cars, and the Dodge Charger is one of his favorites. Hammond ended up buying it off of eBay, and it took him a very long time to find as there aren’t that many available in the UK.

The Charger really stands out thanks to its chrome wheels. As much Hammond loves this Charger, he was never able to use it as a daily driver because the American muscle car is just too big for the UK streets.

9 2007 Fiat 500 TwinAir

via autoexpress.co.uk

Hammond loves the fiat 500 TwinAir so much that he not only bought one for himself but one for his wife as well. To him, it’s sporty and quick, which makes it a perfect daily driver. He says it’s a quick car that’s perfect to drive from London to his home in the countryside.

It may be a big step down from some of the amazing supercars that Hammond has driven in on Top Gear and the Grand Tour, but would you really want to have a Ferrari or a Bugatti as a daily driver in London? Probably not.

8 Ferrari 550 Maranello

via pintrest

“I’m not going to mess about here: I love the Ferrari 550, said Hammond when he reviewed it on Top Gear. This is one supercar that Hammond couldn’t resist owning for himself.

Hammond owned the 1997 model of this Ferrari, and he managed to keep it in near pristine condition until he sold it. However, it seems that Hammond had seller’s remorse as he said he regretted selling it on an episode of Top Gear.

Don’t feel too sorry for him though.

7 2016 Ford Mustang Convertible

via www.topspeed.com

The Mustang is a great car, but a Mustang convertible in white seems like a bit of a girl’s car doesn’t it? So why would Hammond have one of these in his garage?

Well, it turns out that he bought the 2016 Ford Mustang convertible as a Christmas present for his wife.

His wife really wanted the car, so it was the perfect Christmas gift. It came complete with black racing stripes to make the car even flashier.

6 1979 MG Midget

via flickr

Hammond bought a special edition MG Midget because it was rare and had very little mileage on it. It had only 7800 miles on the odometer, and it’s a special edition from the tail end of the MG Midget’s American production run.

The crisp black on black interior was another selling point. The name midget is very unfortunate though, and you can be sure that Clarkson and May made a whole lot of jokes about Hammond purchasing this car.
