What gearhead hasn’t had vivid dreams of finding their automotive equivalent of the Holy Grail in some dusty old barn at some point? For almost all of us, entering a blessed union with a "barn-find" Ferrari or Bugatti or any number of classic cars is a fantasy that will likely remain as far-fetched as winning a Grand Prix. But one outfit in Hampshire, England seems to have unearthed (uncovered?) some 30-odd vintage Jaguars, mostly E-Types, in - of all places - a greenhouse!

How such a large fleet of vintage and desirable automobiles was not spotted by anyone in the intervening decades is a conundrum on par with the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle or Jimmy Hoffa’s disappearance. Regardless, Beaulieu Garage seems to have hit quite the jackpot as most of the cars seem to be of the classic and emotive E-Type variety.

These so-called “barn finds” are not always meticulously-preserved automotive pieces, and it appears that the joy felt by the finders of this vaunted collection was soon tempered with the realization that the cars were in a rather dilapidated state. Evidently the cars appear to have “been there for a very long time,'' according to the characteristically understated British company in describing this still-precious find on their Facebook page.

1 The Road to Get Back on the Road

The sheer enormity of what is required in transporting, cataloging and restoring such old icons is surely remarkable, but the Beaulieu Garage seems to be well-prepared for it and is already embarking on this monumental task. The extensive (and expensive) restorations needed to get these beauties back on the road do not seem to be a deterrent to the company, as they are boldly claiming that all of these cars “will see the road again”. You can check out their progress report here.
