Nowadays, we tend to associate celebrities with luxuries and eccentricities. In some cases, celebrities are super common and simple people. In others, our assumptions are really close to the truth. Some of them are attracted to buy religious properties or strange collections or have a huge candy wall inside their house.
When it comes to car taste, we can find some peculiar results: from jazzy pink Lamborghinis to movie look-a-like cars. Everything they dare to imagine can be a reality in the automotive world. Here we can read about some of the weirdest celebrities’ car purchases and modifications.
10 50 Cent’s Jet Car
Curtis James Jackson III, best known as 50 Cent, is a famous American rapper who bought a 2020 Bugatti Chiron a year ago. This car is a powerful 16-cylinder machine. But this is just a tiny example of his car collection: a 2012 Bentley Mulsanne, a 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago, the White Lightning, as he calls it, and some others.
The White Lightning is a piece designed by 50 Cent himself with a futuristic spaceship-look. He was inspired by jet fighters and Formula One racing cars. His idea was brought to life by the Parker Brothers, Shannon, and Marc, who also fabricated 50 Cent’s designed motorbike.
9 Justin Bieber’s Chrome Fisker Karma
In 2012, the Canadian pop singer and songwriter Justin Bieber received a present for his 18th birthday from his manager: a Fisker Karma sedan. This car is an extended-range electric vehicle with an engine/generator of 260-hp and environmental-friendly features. So far, everything sounds pretty normal.
The thing is Bieber quickly took his present to another level: he modified his sedan by putting a chrome-plated cover and fuchsia LED lights. The car became a super shiny and bright machine that was given away after six months of ownership to the artist’s friend Sean Kingston.
8 T-Pain’s Cadillac Hearse
American rapper and music entrepreneur T-Pain is a car fan. So far, he has acquired 32 different cars. A few years ago he bought a new – but old - car: a 1991 Cadillac Hearse. His hearse has a 5.0L V8 engine and the vehicle was used for its intended purpose just before he got it.
T-Pain modified his purchase by painting it in orange and blue. He has nicknamed it “Danielle Marino” and “The Dolphin Killer”. He also added a blue fiberglass coffin with speakers and TV monitors. These days, he has apparently sold most of his car collection.
7 George Clooney’s Tango T600
In August 2005, American actor George Clooney purchased the first Tango T600 model from electric car company Commuter Cars. Similar to a motorcycle, the Tango T600 allows one passenger behind the pilot seat.
The Tango T600 is small, but the manufacturer made some big claims. It was supposed to have 805 hp and be capable of getting to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Needless to say, it never lived up to those claims.
6 Meek Mill's Knight XV
Meek Mill is an American rapper that has a really nice garage: a bulletproof armored Escalade, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, and a Mercedes Maybach among others. He also appeared in a photograph with a Knight XV, one of the most amazing hand-built SUVs manufactured by Conquest Vehicles, initially intended for military use.
This SUV is armored during its assembling using top-quality steel and fiberglass materials. We can choose an engine fueled by gasoline with 326 hp or a diesel with 300 hp. The Knight XV offers high passenger’s protection. This is an expensive vehicle that can be customized as per the client’s needs.
5 Will.I.Am's Ridiculous DeLorean
The Black Eyed Peas member, actor, and music producer Will.i.am is another rapper in the car fans list. Moreover, he created a car company called IAMAUTO. The first car owned by this enterprise was a DeLorean built by West Coast Customs.
This customized version is powered by an LS3 V8 engine with 400 hp. The car also has some complementary features including an integrated iPad. It has a wide body kit made from fiberglass. The entire thing apparently cost around $700.000.
4 Nicki Minaj’s Pink Lamborghini Aventador
The NYC-raised star Nicki Minaj is the owner of one of the most exciting cars of the Lamborghini family - The Aventador. Powered by a V12 engine, this machine is capable of 217 mph, all for the not-so-affordable price of around $400.000.
Minaj modified her car by wrapping it in a glitzy pink color to be aligned with her eponymous clothing line for Kmart that was being launched at the time. Additionally, she owns other pink-colored cars: a Bentley and a Range Rover.
3 Justin Bieber’s Leopard Audi R8
The chrome-plated Fisker is not the only car Justin Bieber has modified. He is used to doing this and his Audi R8 was not the exception. In 2013, the pop artist spent a considerable amount of money to entirely wrap this fast sports car with a leopard print.
The Audi R8 is an expensive machine with a 552 hp V10 engine that makes it capable of reaching 62mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 199 mph. At least Bieber's modifications didn't affect the performance.
2 Will.i.am's Quirky Beetle
Will.I.Am has a deep interest in car customization. Besides the DeLorean, he designed another futuristic car after acquiring a 1958 Volkswagen Beetle. He started the project with The Garage. Later on, West Coast Customs also participated in the Beetle project. It took two years for the entire process.
In the pursuit of his dream car, the rapper changed the specifications of the project several times. The final blue car has an aluminum interior that includes the dashboard. The exterior looks both, classic and futuristic. The Beetle was completely modified, increasing the final cost to $900.000.
1 Austin Mahone's Rusted BMW
American pop singer Austin Mahone purchased a BMW i8. This car originally had a blue and black offsetting white or silver paint. Then, Mahone decided to change it for a matte red wrap. But it was not enough. He wanted some other modifications.
He sent his hybrid-electric BMW to a company called Metro Wrapz. They installed a high-quality rust-look wrap. Moreover, the artist added a set of gold Vossen Forged VPS-305t wheels that go great with the wrap and a lowered suspension system.
