The 6th Hummer From Mil-Spec Automotive Has Arrived And It Looks Ready For Combat

The sixth Launch Edition Hummer has arrived from Mil-Spec Automotive, and she’s a beaut.

We’ve covered Mil-Spec before, the Wichita, Kansas-based tuning garage that takes old H1 Hummers and turns them into something magical.

First, the entire chassis is disassembled and then re-assembled with all-new parts. Then, the entire frame is given a new powder coat, and the engine is replaced with a Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8, providing 500 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

Brand new independent suspension components are added along with heavy-duty front and rear bumpers as well as a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The entire is also completely stripped out and replaced with luxurious leather, a premium JL Audio System, and 2 USB ports.

Mil-Spec calls their creation the Launch Edition, and it’s recently launched into its 6th iteration.

According to Mil-Spec’s website, the 6th Launch Edition (called #006) is based mostly off the second Launch Edition (called #002), but with a more utilitarian aesthetic. To wit, the exterior is black with a black leather interior with black-painted wheels. While utilitarian, there’s also beauty in #006, with laser-etched switches, improved sound deadening, and custom-fitted Pelican luggage.

The customer who commissioned #006 caught wind of the Launch Edition from #002, which featured an air-suspension system. Mil-Spec gave the #006 the same air-suspension, but also

Upgraded it with an auto-leveling system not previously found on #002. We’re told that it’s extremely smooth on any surface, but especially on the road.

Other upgrades include an aluminum snorkel in case the #006 needs to go for a swim, a heavy-duty 60-inch LED light bar with 30 LEDs in case the #006 needs to light up a football field, a winch in case #006 needs to tow a crashed car, and a functional hood scoop for additional cooling.

Total cost: $295,039. That’s on top of the original H1 Hummer that would need to be sourced separately. Beauty has a price, and it is not cheap.
