Jerry Seinfeld likes cars, also water is wet, salt is salty, and the sky is blue. These are just facts that everyone with an internet connection and a pulse knows. Today, Seinfeld’s car collection now boasts at least 150 rare and impressive machines (as of 2020), with his Netflix show Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee being both a smashing success and a chance for the millionaire comedian to show off his prized collection.
So notorious is Seinfeld’s love of cars that he got the chance to be the spokesperson for some of his favorite manufacturers, such as Acura when he starred in their 2012 Super Bowl ad. But one brand that Seinfeld seems almost obsessed with is Porsche. It is almost impossible to keep track of how many Porsches make their way in and out of his collection. Fans have probably lost count of the number of Porsches that have been featured in Seinfeld's TV show. Out of Jerry Seinfeld’s 150+ car garage, these 8 gems seem to be the ones he is most proud of. Spoiler alert: most of the rarest cars in Seinfeld's garage are Porsches.
8 1949 Porsche 356 “Gmünd”
According to Money Inc, this original Porsche is among one of the 10 most expensive cars that Seinfeld owns. Its estimated value is presently over $700,000, but in an future auction, it could easily cost so much more.
The 356 is referred to as a “Gmünd” because these were some of the last cars Porsche produced in the region of Gmünd before relocating to Zuffenhausen, Germany. Seinfeld used the car to interview a fellow comedian and another former NBC employee with the same obsession with classic cars. Yes, it was indeed Jay Leno.
7 1969 Lamborghini Miura
Anyone would be proud to own any Lamborghini, but owning this $1.6 million sports car is next-level bragging rights for any gearhead. These are some of the rarest cars in the world, as less than 1,000 total were ever built.
The car uses a rear-mid-mounted V12 engine paired with an old-school 5-speed manual transmission, and they can muster around 400 horsepower, minimum. Seinfeld used the car in his Comedians in Cars episode with Chris Rock.
6 1970 Porsche 911S
Back to Seinfeld’s impressive Porsche collection. Among his favorites sits a 1970 Porsche 911S. While not nearly as expensive as the above-mentioned 356, the 911S is a fun throwback to the days when 200 horsepower was considered high.
They may have only had 180 horsepower, but the cars did lay the foundation for Porsche's famous exterior design for generations to come. The car was featured in the episode where Seinfeld interviews two of comedy’s biggest names of the 20th century: Mel Brooks and the late Carl Reiner. Among his other 911 models there is a black 1964 911 and a 1973 911 RS, the latter of which we see him posing with above.
5 1969 Jaguar XKE Series 2 E-Type
Comedian Sarah Silverman got a ride in this Jag classic worth nearly $70,000 (if you own the Roadster model). The DOHC straight-6 engine musters up to 249 horsepower thanks to 4.2 liters of displacement.
The rear-wheel-drive vehicle saw less than 10,000 produced in the 1969 model year, about a fourth of the number of Chevrolet Corvettes made that year, though not nearly as rare as the Gmund.
4 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S "Flachbau"
Produced during the 964-generation of the 911 Turbo S and called the "Flachbau" this aero-enhanced road rocket was produced in the mid-1990s. The 3.6-liter turbocharged engine provided a top speed near 175 MPH and a 0-60 time of only 4.7 seconds.
Since around 2016, Seinfeld has slowly been auctioning away a few of his many Porsches, and the 964 Flachbau was one of them. In total, Seinfeld's Porsche auction yielded at least $22 million.
3 2004 Porsche Carrera GT
Okay, this is the last Seinfeld Porsche we’ll hype up, we promise. That said, there is so much to love about the 2004 Porsche Carrera GT...like the fact that its V10 engine can produce over 600 horsepower and hit 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds—all while using an exquisite six-speed manual transmission.
In prime condition, the Carrera GT can fetch over $1 million today. Seinfeld turned some heads because he recently announced the car will go up for auction. The car comes with plenty of documentation that proves it was once the property of Jerry Seinfeld, so whoever lands this beautiful machine will have plenty of proof for their bragging rights.
2 1963 Split Window Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
If you are interviewing the President of the United States, you are most likely going to roll out one of your most prized machines. Seinfeld held nothing back when interviewing the 44th President, Barack Obama, when he took him for a spin in this envy of all car collectors.
The car has a 327 V8 engine with 250 horsepower, making it a base engine example. By comparison, the optional fuel-injected version made a brawny 360 hp.
1 2017 Acura NSX
Officially, this car no longer sits in Seinfeld's garage as he gave it to his friend Bob Einstein. However, that didn’t stop Seinfeld from endorsing the NSX in Acura's 2012 Super Bowl ad.
The car’s V6 engine hits up to 573 horsepower, and it utilizes twin-turbos and three electric motors to do so. Seinfeld’s friend Einstein was probably more than grateful to be given such a great machine. Fun fact: a 1991 Acura NSX made a cameo in his sitcom Seinfeld.
