Rivaling a competitor in the automotive world and beating their power and speed is a massive feat; no less in the realm of supercars. The Bugatti Chiron, with its 8-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, can boast a whopping 261 mph, beating many of its rivals such as the SSC Ultimate Aero. But, what about power?

There is a class of quadruple and high-triple figure horsepower supercars and hypercars in the world that can rival the power of the Bugatti Chiron. We'll take a look at some of its closest competitors to see which ones the Chiron bests. There's one ride in particular, though, that the Chiron simply can't compete with.

Let's take a closer look at how the Bugatti Chiron's horsepower compares with its rivals.

The Bugatti Chiron is the fastest and most powerful super sports car in Bugatti's history. The Chiron has a top speed of 261 mph and a whopping 1,479 hp.

Bugatti's Chiron is a mid-engine sports car that boasts an 8-liter quad-turbocharged engine. Not only is it quick off the mark, capable of achieving 0 to 62 mph in an impressive 2.4 seconds, but it can also maintain high speeds and zoom around tracks, with thanks to its incredible horsepower. But how does near 1,500 hp compare with supercars of a similar pedigree?

The Bugatti Veyron Lags Behind With 987 HP

The Bugatti Veyron is another much-loved model from the brand. This ride is owned by a whole host of celebrities, such as Flo Rida, Lil Wayne, and Jay Z. It's a gorgeous car; one that many of us would love to own. It's made appearances in movies such as those of the Fast & Furious franchise. Although it's a sports car of superlative quality, it doesn't quite match the Chiron when it comes to horsepower.

In comparison to the Chiron, the Veyron's horsepower tops 987 at best. Although this is still impressive, it doesn't even come close to the Chiron.

The Veyron was designed to exceed 1,000 hp. Yet, Bugatti's design did not quite reach this in practice, with the horsepower of the Veyron failing to match expectations. Nonetheless, it's still a very impressive and sleek sports car. The Veyron has a 0 to 60 mph time of 2.5 seconds.

If you're looking for power, though, the Chiron is certainly the better choice, albeit, with its 0-60 time and a top speed of 253 mph, the Veyron comes, perhaps surprisingly close in terms of speed figures.

The McLaren Speedtail Hits A Solid 1,036 HP

The McLaren Speedtail is certainly a strong and powerful supercar, but it's not quite as explosive as the Bugatti Chiron. The Speedtail exhumes elegance and modernity with a hybrid electric engine. Its 4-liter twin-turbo offers speeds of up to 250 mph and a little over 1,000 hp. It can reach 60 mph from a standstill in only 2.9 seconds.

Similar to the Chiron, the Speedtail is the fastest sports car their manufacturer has ever built. To reach its top speed, the driver has to put it into velocity mode. It isn't as simple as putting your foot down until the speedometer reaches 250 mph.

The Speedtail is the fourth edition in McLaren's Ultimate Series, with the others being the Senna, P1, and F1. All of which also do not match the Chiron's horsepower. They are impressive rides yet do not even come closer to overpowering the Chiron. So, what does?

The Devel Sixteen Decimates The Competition For Power With 5,007 HP

We had to add the Devel Sixteen in here as we are talking about horsepower. The Devel Sixteen is the most powerful car in the world ever made. It tops a gob-smacking 5,007 hp, which no other cars even come close to.

It was born by performance and power in mind, which the brand has clearly demonstrated. Only ten were ever made, with one owner being the famous Canadian hip-hop artist, Drake. It was initially imagined with a sketch, and after the brand fell in love, the first-ever model was produced in 2017. Four years later, no more than ten have been made, and it's unlikely that any more will be produced.

With its horsepower surpassing any car in the world, of course, the Bugatti Chiron doesn't come close. However, the Chiron is much more affordable (in retrospect) and more accessible.

In summary, although the Chiron is an incredibly powerful machine that beats many of its rivals, it is still exceeded by some. However, Bugatti really did pull something special out of the bag with the Chiron.

After trying to top 1,000 horsepower with the Veyron and not succeeding, they certainly fulfilled the expectation with the Chiron as it tops 1,479 hp. If you want to ride this powerful machine and add one to your garage, you'd look at paying no less than $3 million.
