One of the most readily identifiable cars on American roads is the Ford Crown Victoria. One of the most versatile cars of the 21st century and maybe even ever, the Crown Victoria has served countless jobs from taxi to shuttle to police cruiser and everything in between. However, the car ended its production run in 2011 after being in production for over 40 years and has not had a proper successor yet. YouTuber TheSketchMonkey decided to resurrect the classic vehicle for today's era with a modern twist to see how an updated Crown Victoria could look in the market.

Taking The Crown Victoria Forward

YouTuber and artist TheSketchMonkey started off by describing why he loves the Ford Crown Victoria since it is the last sturdy and utilitarian sedan on the market. Coming from Sweden, the closest he came to the car growing up was the Volvo 240 which shared a basic reasoning as the Ford: solid, safe, basic, and surprisingly easy to work on or modify. After two years since his last rendering attempt, he decided to work back on the Crown Vic's Panther platform to bring it into 2021 and forward.

The Car Looks Great With Modern Touches

After beginning to customize the Crown Victoria, TheSketchMonkey realized that some "modern" touches from other models could make a major difference aesthetically. After changing the wheel wells and tail end to modernize it, he set to removing the wrap-around front lights and slightly altering the roofline to make it less classic-designed. Along with cutting the front and rear overhangs in length and depth, he changed the rear valence and lighting setup to a more unique and custom look.

Taking Inspiration From Other Cars' Designs

As he walked through the redesign, he pointed out styling cues from other vehicles. He decided to fit black splitters and valence along the car, mimicking modern design elements. Once lowering the car slightly and enlarging the wheel arches, he fitted wheels from the Chrysler 300M onto the car. With their multispoke design, they fit the flat-sided design of the car too. All put together, the car sits looking like the classic Crown Victoria body but updated enough to be relevant for a few more years easily. It is easy to imagine seeing the new Crown Victoria cruising the streets like it has many times before.
