With classic cars, the world of modification is nearly endless. Classic cars in the tuning community have become a blank slate for customization with everything from hot rod builds to slammed show cars and everything in between. When aftermarket garage True Horsepower Diesel got their hands on a classic 1958 Oldsmobile, the planning of upgrades and tuning was instant, and some of their ideas are downright insane looking. To showcase their plans, they took to Instagram to show off their newest project and a rendering of what it might become.

Oldsmobile Render Gets Low

Digital artist @altered_intent created a rendering of True Horsepower Diesel's newest vehicle. The 1958 Oldsmobile 88 as it currently sits is nothing to look at other than a place to think about what the past may have been when massive sedans and coupes were the norm. However, after having worked his magic on the car, it sits meaner than the family car had ever been intended to be.

With rolled flared fenders, a fully ratted-out patina look, and new deep-dish wheels, the Oldsmobile has gone from relic to race car in the best way possible. The rendered version is awesome to see and also is easy enough to imagine cruising (slowly) down the streets in Texas outside the shop it would be built in. Should they do this build, it would be easy enough to call the car a land cruiser if not for Toyota.

This 1958 Oldsmobile 88 Is Faded

Jumping back to how the car actually is, the rendering looks like a bit of a pipe dream. The Oldsmobile sits covered in rust that ate through the factory green paint, the wheels sit pressed into the body with over an inch between fender wall and wheel face, and obviously the car is still sitting at a road-usable height. While incredibly far from the rendered idea, this Oldsmobile looks ready for restoration to make it roadworthy once again. When it was new, these were able to cruise the country easily as long as they could find fuel stops along the route. Big enough to fit an entire household, these could very easily be the only car anyone would need, but as it is now it looks about ready to find it's end.
