In 1971, the bright red Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL, prepared by AMG specialists, took second place in the overall rating of the 24 Hours of Spa race. This achievement was the first major success of the young company and brought it to the forefront of world motorsport. Now, exactly 50 years later, Mercedes-AMG has launched a special series of three 50 Years Spa 24 Hours cars, which includes three generations of two-door GT3 category, available since 2010. The cost of each such machine is between €500,000 to €650,000 (about $590,675 to $768,000).

The 50 Years Legend of Spa series is led by the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. The other two cars are AMG GT racing cars from 2016 and 2020. Each of them exists in one copy, painted similar to 300 SEL 6.8 AMG (aka Rote Sau, or "Red Pig"), and equipped with an aspirated V8 6.3. Deprived of a restrictor, this unit produces more than 650 hp and 635 Nm of torque. And the owner of the car will fully enjoy the sound of the exhaust system without a silencer.

Moreover, each car turned out to be unique in its own way. For example, for the construction of the new SLS AMG GT3 (discontinued in 2015), Mercedes-AMG used the only body remaining in the warehouse. Together with the other characteristics and specifications of the special version, the result is a car that can’t be exceeded in terms of uniqueness.

The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT3 50 Years Legend of Spa gets an aluminum chassis numbered "100" and the 2020 coupe gets all the racing technology used on long-distance racing cars.
