When Tesla arrived on the scene to challenge the longevity of pipelines and service stations, naturally, a bunch of internal-combustion fans wanted to put the green-power models by pitting them in races against such opposition as a Dodge Challenger and a V-10 F1 racecar. If that wasn't enough, others opted for strength competitions with a Tesla facing off against heavyweights like a Lamborghini Huracan as well as a military hummer and a Ford F-150 pickup. Enter the Dobro brothers, which in a YouTube video, rolled out an even more formidable vehicle: a Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) fighting machine to see how it would do against a Tesla Model X.

Heavyweight Battle: 20,000 Lbs. Vs 5,200 Lbs.

It must be nice for this YouTubing quartet to have more than a million subs, which spells enough clout to finagle a tank for their test. As far as tanks go, this one—manufactured by Jaguar—is relatively lightweight thanks to an aluminum alloy that forms the bulk of the body. Still, it's 20,000 lbs. yet can accelerate rather quickly, reaching a top speed of 52 mph.

At 5,400 lbs., the all-wheel-drive Tesla Model X SUV is almost four times lighter than the tank, but its electric engine is designed to deliver up to 670 horsepower. All that juice enables the SUV to perform a 0-60-mph acceleration rate in as little as 3.8 seconds and top speeds exceeding 120 mph.

Quick Acceleration From The Tesla And The Tank

The scuttlebutt around the brothers is that the tank is equipped with a Dodge Hellcat engine, which from the factory would boast slightly more than 700 hp. That prompts one sibling to suggest a drag race between the two vehicles. There's no argument among the rest of the pack as they quickly line up both vehicles on the asphalt road for a quick sprint.

Immediately, the Model X jumps out in front of the tank in hot pursuit. It wins handily in the end, but amazingly, the SUV wasn't able to pad additional distance between itself and the tank by the time it crossed the finish line. The boys marvel over how quickly the tank springs into action, expecting it to instead lumber forward and slowly gain speed.

Tesla A Worthy Opponent

The moment of truth arrives once a rope is secured between the two combatants for the tug-of-war. Worries surface between the bros that the Tesla might break in this competition. The action gets intense until the rope breaks on the first attempt, so they get a steel cable for round two. When action resumes, the Tesla gains a bit of ground by pulling the tank a few feet. But when full throttle is applied to the tank, it leaves the SUV's wheels spinning until it's helplessly towed in the opposite direction. It's a decisive win for the CVRT, but not without a fight from the SUV.
