Here is a tuned C8 Corvette that managed to break two records within a week. After becoming the most powerful C8 Corvette so far, this supercar owned and tuned by FuelTech became the quickest of its Chevrolet kind on the quarter mile.
Smashing The C8 Corvette's Power Output Record
FuelTech founder and CEO Anderson Dick has a C8 Corvette that serves as the company's race-only project vehicle for several development tasks. FuelTech has been pushing their project car to the limits, resulting in a friendly competition between them and Emelia Hartford. In fact, for the past several months, Anderson and Emelia's C8 Corvettes have been breaking each other's record — output and quarter mile numbers.
Anderson's latest tinkering with his Chevrolet drive resulted in a dyno-measured output of 1,350 hp on the wheels — a new output record for a C8 Corvette. When further calculations are made (assuming that there is a 15% drivetrain power loss), the car's twin turbocharged LT2 engine would be making around 1,588 hp on the crank. The exact figure, however, is not easy to compute, but it should be between 1,500 and 1,600 hp.
In comparison, Emelia's latest power figures on the dyno were 1,201 hp on the wheels, which means her C8 Corvette is making more than 1,400 hp on the crank. That was the record three weeks ago.
Breaking The C8 Corvette's Quarter-Mile Record
A 1,350-whp C8 Corvette shouldn't be sitting in the garage. So, Ande-rson took it to the drag strip for some quarter-mile action. Before this run, the quickest C8 Corvette on the quarter mile was one tuned by Extreme Turbo Systems. Three weeks ago, this C8 Corvette crossed the finish line in just 9.050 seconds at 159.53 mph, thereby breaking Emelia's official time.
Armed with an extremely powerful engine, Anderson's C8 zoomed from zero to a quarter mile in just 9.017 seconds at 153.3 mph. This means there is a new C8 Corvette hegemon, setting two records — power output and quarter mile — within a week.
The Most Potent And Fastest C8 Corvette For Now
Given the extreme competition between C8 Corvette owners and tuners, it would not be a surprise if another video pops up online showing a new record holder. They would not easily accept defeat considering how competitive the contest has been. That may happen in a few days, weeks or months. For now, the dual throne belongs to Anderson's C8 Corvette.
