The new Genesis GV60 is finally a reality. After releasing the first details in recent weeks, the South Korean brand has published all the specs of the new GV60: an electric car equipped with the most advanced technology developed by Hyundai to which this premium brand belongs.

According to Green Car Reports, the hardware that will make the wireless charging of the GV60 possible will be from the company WiTricity, which specializes in this type of technology. As a pilot program, it will initially only be offered (or enabled) in South Korea.

Then, if feasible, the technology will eventually reach Europe. Wireless charging for electric vehicles is not like inductive charging that makes charging a phone or smartwatch possible. Instead, the coils must line up perfectly to get a charge.

In its assault on Europe, the new GV60 will be essential to Genesis' plans. The Korean brand believes the launch of the GV60 marks the beginning of a "range of luxury brands that interact with the driver."

The Genesis GV60 stands out for its exterior design, technological interior, and, most importantly, the benefits and performance offered by its fully electric propulsion system.

Genesis has embodied its 'Athletic Elegance' design language in the new GV60. It features a modern and striking exterior appearance that will allow you to differentiate yourself from your more direct rivals. Perhaps the GV60 will make next year's list of the best electric cars on the market.

At the front, it stands out for its LED lighting divided into two rows of lights. To this must be added the Crest-type grill that is in a low part to adapt to the cooling needs of a high-performance electric vehicle.

We also highlight the hood for its shell shape. And on it is the new emblem. The bodywork presents a surface that seeks continuity and avoids cuts or character lines. This design brings a lot of fluidity to the whole. The side view brings out a coupe-like silhouette. The short overhangs and the 9.5 feet wheelbase are other highlights. And finally, the digital exterior rearview mirrors and door handles show that Genesis did much work on aerodynamics.

And ending our tour of the exterior in the rear, some optical groups also divided and in a horizontal arrangement are apparent. Finally, the third brake light perfectly integrates into the rear spoiler.

The customization options are extensive. The bodywork is available in 11 colors: São Paulo Lime, Hanauma Mint, Atacama Copper, and Atacama Copper Matte. Other colors include Vik Black, Uyuni White, Matterhorn White, Saville Silver, Carbon Metal, Melbourne Gray, and Royal Blue. The São Paulo Lime color has been created especially for this model.

Similarly, we should note that Hyundai's e-GMP platform supports the new GV60. Again, an architecture exclusively dedicated to electric vehicles. It is the first Genesis model to use it. This technology allows, as we have previously indicated, to have short overhangs and a great wheelbase. In addition, it has compact exterior measurements.

Leaving aside the exterior, if we venture inside the new GV60, a warm, comfortable, and, above all, digital and connected environment will envelop us. Genesis has sought to create a spacious and comfortable interior. The center console adopts a design that conveys the sensation of floating. To make the GV60 a more sustainable vehicle, Genesis used various parts with eco-friendly and recycled materials. Vegetable leather is one of them.

The interior is available in five colors: Obsidian Black, Torrent Navy, Ash Gray / Glacier White, Monstera Green / Camel Beige, and Monstera Green / Glassier White. In addition, the new generation infotainment system makes it possible to connect instrumentation and navigation on a panoramic screen. These features create a high-tech look and feel.

In addition to the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system screen, a Head-Up Display (HUD) projects information highly relevant to driving. It is also possible to receive remote updates (OTA), which will help further to improve the experience onboard the new GV60. Another technology that this model boasts is the driver's Face Connect facial recognition system, which allows you to lock or unlock the doors without a key.

The Autonomy of the GV60

Let's go into detail about the critical element, the electric propulsion system. It will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. And in the case of all-wheel-drive models, Genesis will market a Performance version that stands out for its performance. But, regardless of the trim level, we will find a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery that allows you to enjoy a maximum range of 280 miles.

There will be three trim levels of the GV60: The "Standard RWD" with 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, a "Standard AWD" with 313 horsepower, and 446 lb-ft of torque, and the "Performance AWD" with 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque and Boost mode.

All-wheel-drive models come with two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear. In addition, and to enjoy superior performance, the GV60 equips a Boost mode that delivers extra power for ten seconds.

Regarding the charging times, they will vary depending on the type of charger used. However, the new GV60 can recharge its battery at ultra-fast 350 kW charging points. This allows the charging process to go from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes. And what is equally remarkable, the vehicle can be used as a mobile power source as it has V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology. This feature enables the energy stored in the car battery to recharge other electrical devices.
