It isn't every day that people can watch an EV like the Tesla Plaid take part in a drag race against a dragster. Drag races are famous for petrol-powered mean machines going head-to-head. Yet, this footage of a dragster taking on a Tesla Plaid on the Tesla Plaid Channel on YouTube showcases a drag race that every EV or racing fan will want to watch, as the outcome is pretty opposing to what people might assume.
Big Noise Difference Between The Plaid And The Dragster
The first thing to notice about the two cars lining up for the drag race is the stark noise difference. With the Tesla Plaid being an all-electric ride, it makes pretty much no noise at all. It is so silent that it looks inferior to the dragster. On the other hand, the long wheel-base dragster blasts some power through its engine for an extravagant roar at the start line.
After the Tesla Plaid manages to line up through the middle strip so that it has dry wheels, the two sit waiting until it is time to take each other on.
An Interesting Opponent And An Interesting Finish

The dragster is an interesting opponent for the likes of a Tesla Plaid. The team even states that it is the first-ever rail-style dragster that they have ever taken on, so it makes for a pretty compelling race.
Once the vehicles set off, the pair sit pretty comfortably next to each other for a few seconds. Before the dragster gets a chance to show off what it is capable of, the Tesla Plaid takes the lead and leaves it behind. The Tesla Plaid crosses the line much before the dragster with a time of 6.05 seconds and a top speed of 119.84 mph. Unfortunately, the dragster crosses the line and no time shows up on the right-hand screen, which was the driver's choice. Yet, it is safe to say that it doesn't win after seeing the Tesla crosses the line 0.79 seconds before the dragster.
In summary, the Tesla Plaid looks to have had a pretty comfortable and effortless drag race against the stock dragster. Although it might seem that the dragster is in production for this kind of thing, the Tesla shows the dragster and the driver who is the real boss.
