BMW is known for ultramodern luxury cars equipped with the best and latest in technology and rife with features that help them to stand out in the automobile market. Headquartered in Munich, the company has a presence in Germany, Brazil, China, India, South Africa, the Netherlands, Mexico, the UK, and the United States.

In 2018, the brand introduced the BMW iX cross-over/SUV electric vehicle (EV) as a concept dubbed the Vision iNext during the Paris Motor Show. It was a hit with the public, and it was prepared for full production beginning in November of 2020 for the 2021 model year. The “M” variant of BMW’s models (standing for “Motorsport”) represents a higher performance class trim and will be coming to the iX in 2023.

The 2023 BMW iX M60 variant promises to be one of the most advanced and comfortable EVs produced by BMW to date. The powerhouse of available torque and horsepower comes equipped with luxurious details, exciting theatric equipment, and phenomenal new technology all wrapped up in a classy, but costly, battery-electric model.

Specifications And Power In The 2023 BMW iX M60

Although “power” might not be your first thought when someone mentions EVs, the 2023 BMW iX M60 competed with other recent EV powerhouse debuts (such as the new Hummer EV) and brings it in spades.

With a standard 532 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque, the iX M60 can reach up to 155 MPH on summer tires. When Sport mode with launch control is enabled, those stats jump to 610 horsepower and a temporary boost up to 811 pound-feet of torque (in ten second bursts), which gives acceleration a boost to allow the M60 to hit 60 MPH in just 3.6 seconds.

The power in the all-wheel drive BMW comes from two electric motors placed on each axle- 255 horsepower on the front and 486 horsepower on the rear. The motors are driven by a 111.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack located between the axles and beneath the floor. The battery is capable of a range up to 299 miles (on 21-inch wheels).

Extra motor performance on the M60 is gained through a six-phase double inverter system and an elongated rotor (by 0.78 inches) and revolutions up to 15,400 rpm. The motors are attached to a single speed transmission and are capable of recuperating energy, although the kWh varies based on speed. The charging ability of the M60 is impressive as well; when hooked up to a DC fast charger, the M60 can pull up to 195 kW and charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 35 minutes.

Features And Luxury Upgrades In The 2023 BMW iX M60

In addition to feeling super powerful and speedy, the BMW iX M60 also holds to BMW’s standards for luxury. The interior of the M60 is exciting and comfortable with large, curved screens to host infotainment systems and cloud-based navigation integrated. Additionally, the heads-up display for the drive is massive, providing instant access to relevant directions and vehicle conditions.

The futuristic system is also accessible using a variety of methods including touch, gesture, speech, or the controller. According to BMW, the system is even advanced enough to not need exact directions anymore - meaning that you can say “I’m hot” to ask the system to adjust the air conditioning rather than directly requesting “turn on the air conditioning” and it should understand your request.

The seating in the BMW iX M60 is ample with room for up to five adults in the soft leather upholstery. Admirably, the creation of the vehicle saw BMW continue to look towards the future not only in design elements but in sustainability; it uses 60 kg (about 133 LBS) of recycled materials on the creation of things such as the doors, dash, and seats. The wheel of the iX M60 is another futuristic aspect of the ride, with a hexagonal shape rather than the traditional round one.

Other luxury upgrades in the BMW include an electro-chromatically darkening all glass roof panel and carbon fiber framing around doors that open with a button push rather than the use of a handle. The console bridge of the SUV is simple and functional with a “floating” design, adding to the luxury feel of the interior and many accents are wood topped.

The sleek SUV is available in six non-metallic colors as well as two BMW exclusive metallics (Storm Bay and Aventurine Red) for an additional $2600. Other optional packages can be added to take the luxury up another notch if a driver desires (for an additional charge, of course) including a Comfort Package for $3500 that adds heating to the steering wheel, seats, armrests, instrument panel lower section, and door panels as well as active seat ventilation.

The BMW iX M60 will begin arriving at dealerships in June of 2022 with a starting price of $105,100, according to Kelley Blue Book. Although that is a hefty price tag, the 2023 BMW iX M60 promises to be one of the most powerful EV SUVs on the market and is a great mixture of luxury, technology, design, and more than ample power.
