Nissan continues to make an impact in the automotive industry as it has recently unveiled a specially modified version of the e-NV200 Winter Camper concept designed for cold weather treks in particular. It has all the amenities necessary for passengers to enjoy a comfortable night in the van.

This is the first time that Nissan has attempted an in-house conversion, and some conversion kits are available for the e-NV200.

Despite this, anyone who purchases this vehicle should anticipate that they will have to stop off a few times to recharge its batteries due to its single charge.

What Features Can Drivers Expect From The Nissan e-NV200 Winter Camper?

There are many improved features from the previous e-NV200 commercial van, such as raised suspension, wider wheels, and chunky off-road tires. The added effect that they have is that they improve the van's performance when driving on snow and mud, perfect for this time of year.

Furthermore, it comes with a set of rear and front-rear mudguards, side bards, door-entry guards, and hose-down rubber floor mats. There is a pair of 5,400-Lumens spot lamps at the front, so if drivers are ever driven off the beaten track, they can rely on extra visibility.

Regarding the interior, there are a few storage cabinets, a bed which two people can use, a fold away table and the best feature is the fitted kitchen. Occupants can look forward to a little more headroom because of its pop-out roof. Also, the e-NV200 includes a refrigerator and fitted insulating glass.

What About The Nissan e-NV200 Winter Camper Concept's Range And Charging Capacity?

A separate 220V power pack supplies electricity to the kitchen, lights, and fridge. The good news is that Nissan provides roof-mounted solar power to generate the vehicle's electricity, meaning that you won't need to worry about draining the e-NV200's battery pack. This suggests that Nissan is also trying to show off its environmental credentials here.

If anyone was anticipating that Nissan would make improvements to the e-NV200's powertrain with this Winter Camper, think again. Like its predecessor, the Winter Camper features a 108bhp electric motor and a nominal 40kWh battery pack. It takes 40 minutes to charge the battery to 80 percent.

Nissan's team of engineers in Spain has attempted to piece together the e-NV200's upgrades in-house, where camping accessories can be purchased from the Spanish factory. The good news is that there are a couple of aftermarket companies that offer conversion kits for the Winter Camper.

Drivers should expect a range of 124 miles based on the current e-NV200, but it could be even less due to the chunkier tires, the solar panel, and all the internal weight of a bed, table, kitchen, and worktops.

Prices are not available for the U.S. yet, and Nissan told Auto Express that they would only put the Winter Camper into mass production if there is widespread popularity for the vehicle.

But it is more than likely that drivers will only use this vehicle for skiing holidays, particularly when it comes with a ski rack that mounts to the trunk door to save having to transport them in the e-NV200.

Should The Nissan e-NV200 Winter Concept Expect Any Competition This Year?

Earlier this month, Motor 1 reported that the latest Volkswagen T7 Multivan was spotted in the Swedish snow. Considering its portfolio of successful vehicles, Volkswagen has become the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance's main competitor in recent years.

Like the e-NV200, the T7 Multivan is somewhat of an adventure vehicle. It can be a delivery vehicle, a people carrier, or a campervan while consisting of all the comfy features that come with these types of vans.

Although the new vehicle is not in the showroom yet, the T7 Multivan appears to have the same chunky appearance as past models, but the new version is longer and lower this time.

Earlier sightings show that the interior has been inspired by the Volkswagen Golf. So the good news for Nissan is that the e-NV200's fitted kitchen and other amazing interior features make it easily distinguishable from the T7 Multivan. However, Volkswagen is offering gasoline, diesel, and hybrid versions of its new van, so customers can expect more choice from the German automaker while Nissan attempts to retain its place as an eco-friendly car company.

It will be interesting to see whether demand for the Nissan e-NV200 Winter Camper concept increases, but there is no doubt that Nissan is concentrating on retaining its competitive edge following over two disastrous years for the car brand.
