The Chevrolet Camaro is one of the most popular modern muscle cars in the United States, continuing the legend of the original models and there have been some crazy special editions along the way. However, all good things come to an end and there is soon to be an end for this current Camaro, with there being no seventh-generation Camaro after the sixth-gen disappears in 2023. But The Lethal Garage on YouTube is reporting that a final, “heritage edition” Camaro ZL1 will appear in 2024, to bid farewell to the iconic muscle car.

What We Know So Far

We know that there were initially plans for a seventh-generation Camaro, but in 2019 Chevrolet stopped the development of the seventh iteration of the iconic model. This means the sixth-generation Camaro is set to be the last. This news comes hot off the heels of an image on the GM Design Instagram page that could have been the Camaro Z28 that we never got. The YouTube channel though states that the image shows that GM has at least been planning some special edition Camaro. It paves the way for a special edition Camaro in 2024, called potentially the “Collectors Edition” or “Heritage Edition”, which will work as a final send-off for the Camaro nameplate.

The video mentions a few details of the car, such as a new low-spoiler, carbon fiber brakes, carbon accents, and the outright power bumped up to 670 hp — which is more than the Cadillac Blackwing. This they say in the video will be a farewell to the Camaro, which does indeed such as the Camaro is a fantastic muscle car. There are no details yet as to what form the Collectors Edition gets offered in, as in will it be an add-on to the ZR1 or will it be a limited-edition model. More likely it would be towards the latter, a limited-run car.

There are also reports that the limited edition will be a run of just 2,000 units, but we don’t have any concrete evidence of that. Lethal Garage thinks they might reveal this special edition in the next spring, or potentially May, heading into early summer. Whatever happens, it will certainly be a sad day when the Camaro does bow out no matter what form it is going to take. This of course all stems from the decision to ax the muscle car back in 2019. Let's hope that this Heritage or Collectors Edition is what we all hope it's going to be.
