Everyone knows that celebrities are just regular people like the rest of us. But even as the definition of who counts as an 'A-Lister' has changed over the last decade to include a new wave of reality stars and social media socialites, one thing has remained the same: these "regular" people sure don't live regular lives like the rest of us.

The inside glimpses that social media affords the mainstream public into the lives of celebs these days reveals an elite class of people who flit between glitzy parties, mega-mansions, and the worlds finest clubs and restaurants—all while driving (or being chauffeured around in) some of the world's most desirable, powerful, and luxurious automobiles.

And yet, not every A-Lister sticks to that script. A wave of eco-consciousness has hit the elite and the status symbols of yesterday have evolved into a plethora of Priuses—Cameron Diaz, Natalie Portman, and Leonardo DiCaprio being just a few examples of huge names that enjoy their green cars.

But from the biggest IMAX screens, where Hollywood superstars still ply their trade, all the way down to the smallest smartphone screens, where up-and-coming starlets increasing reveal more and more skin in the hopes of attracting more and more likes, there's still a strong tendency towards the plush materialism that makes the lives of A-Listers seem so attractive.

And it's not just real life where they get to enjoy some of the greatest cars ever made; in movies, TV shows, music videos, and in staged shots for social media, these 20 a-listers always show up with the nicest cars they can find.

20 Robert Downey Jr

via Pinterest

Robert Downey Jr's up and down career is currently on a serious high thanks to his starring role in the Iron Man films and their transition into the Avengers franchise of movies. Downey Jr plays Tony Stark and in some ways, it appears that he's molded his post-rehab self into a real-life version of the character. Both drive Audi R8 supercars on a regular basis and both are quick-witted smart guys with a penchant for slick one-liners. There's no reason for Downey Jr to go back to the rough days of his early career, especially if the next Avengers film brings in another billion bucks to pad the pockets of everyone involved.

19 Samuel L Jackson

via YouTube

Samuel L Jackson's long tenure in Hollywood has earned him a specific honor: the movies he's starred in have, in total, grossed the most of any actor in the history of the biz. But that's what happens when you star as a purple-lightsaber wielding Jedi in a couple of Star Wars prequels and then appear as Nick Fury in the Avengers franchise and all its concomitant spin-offs (and let's not forget Shaft). In real life, Jackson must struggle to pull himself out of bed every day and have to drive his uber-luxurious Maybach—but hey, he's earned the right to ask, "What's in your wallet?"

18 Jerry Seinfeld

via The Lux Authority

Jerry Seinfeld became one of the world's highest paid humans during his tenure on the eponymous sitcom. His stand-up comedy work keeps him connected to his hilarious love of high-concept comedy—even when it comes in the form of lowest-common-denominator jokes. These days, he keeps himself busy showing off some of the world's finest cars on his new show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The name may be about as inventive as the show that made him rich and famous, but the cars on the show are some of the world's most incredible pieces of inventive engineering. Highlights include vintage Ferraris, BMWs, and even the 1959 Porsche 718 RSK that he ferried around fellow funnyman Kevin Hart in for one episode.

17 Bruce Willis

via Motor Trend

A younger version of Bruce Willis appeared in Quentin Tarantino's breakout directorial feature, Pulp Fiction, and that was only one step on the long ladder that Willis has climbed to the top of the film industry. He's broken some hearts along the way but perhaps the greatest loss of all occurred when he realized he had to stem the tide of his formerly unabashed love of muscle cars. He eventually auctioned off his collection at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, including a 1968 Shelby GT500, a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400, and a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette. Luckily, in the movies, Willis still gets to ride around in some sweet cars, though.

16 Michael Jordan

via Sports Illustrated

Arguably the best basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan set new standards for athletes when it came to wealth and fame. His collaboration with Nike—alongside some pretty serious paychecks just to throw a ball through a hoop—set him up for life, though His Airness then put that concept to the test by developing a gambling addiction. But throughout the ups and downs, he's always managed to live large, driving Aston Martins, Corvettes, Porsches, and even the tiny go-karts pictured above at an amusement park. Even if he wasn't the world's best baseball player, does it seem likely he's about to lose in a go-kart race?

15 Kim Kardashian

via Evening Standard

Like it or not, Kim Kardashian has now firmly planted her famous derriere in the realm of A-List celebrity. Kim's come a long way since she was an assistant to Paris Hilton, another wealthy socialite who clearly taught her the quickest way to earn a bit of internet superstardom. Kim's pivoted that early reality film appearance into a reality TV-based empire that includes her entire family (and the rapper Kanye West). The whole family's transformed the way that faces appear on small screens, while simultaneously transforming the way they get around town on a daily basis. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and more, please.

14 Kendall Jenner

via 2019 Volvo Xc90 R Design

Kendall Jenner is one of the members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan that has put the work in to earn a place among the new cadre of social media A-Listers. She keeps it a bit tamer when comparing her style to her more synthetically voluptuous sisters but she's got a car collection that can put the rest of the fam to shame. She doesn't just keep a Ferrari GTB in her garage; she's also got a serious interest in vintage muscle—complete with bolt-on mods that change their appearances more than an application of the Kylie Jenner-enhancing 'lipstick' the family claims they use to look a bit poutier for social media posts.

13 Tom Cruise

via Red Bull

Tom Cruise has been one of Hollywood's most bankable stars since the 1980s and it's safe to say he's huge in Asia. Cruise is famous for doing all his own stunts in the Mission Impossible franchise and he's always seemed to have a car focus in his films, from as early as Risky Business (1983) and Days of Thunder (1990). In real life, Cruise has been caught driving around Los Angeles in his Bugatti Veyron but he also went the same route as his earlier NASCAR-themed film and got behind the wheel of a Red Bull race car for some promotional fun in 2011.

12 Sylvester Stallone

via Pinterest

Sylvester Stallone is another huge star who has enjoyed massive success over the past few decades. After groundbreaking roles in the Rocky and Rambo films, Stallone has maintained a strong presence in the industry, even rejuvenating his career of late with the Expendables franchise. He maintains an impressive collection of cars, the best of which, it has to be said, is his Bugatti Veyron. Of course, the Veyron would be a highlight in any car collection, and more power to Sly for being willing to actually put miles on his by driving it around town without concern for getting any nicks or bruises.

11 Patrick Dempsey

via The Telegraph

Patrick Dempsey may not be quite the family face that he enjoyed while he was starring on Grey's Anatomy, but the man who played McDreamy has a car collection that is the real-life stuff of dreams. He's also an avid racer, in addition to his vintage street-going cars, who has even competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Baja 1000, finishing fourth-in-class in the former event in 2009. His tastes make him sort of a modern version of Steve McQueen, perhaps the original and most authentic of Hollywood's car guys—though Dempsey's film and racing careers would both have to take a step up to meet McQueen's head-on.

10 Jay Leno

via Autoweek

Jay Leno earned up to $30 million in salary each year on The Jay Leno Show and up to $20 million per year while hosting The Tonight Show. Apparently, most of that money went to cars because Leno now owns one of the world's premier collections. His tastes range from world-class historical examples, like a Hispano-Suiza, to strange tuner jobs like this Ford Shogun, which is essentially a Festiva on a strong dose of turbo-steroids. Leno would never be seen in any car that wasn't among the world's best or most historically significant and he brings his passion to the world through his web show, Jay Leno's Garage.

9 Jay-Z

via Green Car Reports

Jay-Z has been rapping for much more than 17 years now and he's pretty proud of the fact that he's got way more money than MC Hammer. His career with Roc Nation has only further bolstered his bank account and he's not one to ride or drive around in anything less than the world's best. One of his most recent acquisitions was a blacked-out Tesla Model S, the new standard in eco-conscious luxury—but also world-beating performance. With Ludicrous Mode engaged (no, nothing to do with the other rapper), a Model S can hit 60 miles per hour in under three seconds, all with only the whine of an electric powertrain to disturb the soundtrack.

8 Beyonce

via Beyonce

Jay-Z's other half is Beyonce Knowles, who rose to superstardom as one-third of Destiny's Child before catapulting to worldwide phenomenon status with her solo career. Now one of the world's highest-paid entertainers, Beyonce is a lover of all things fancy. Her car collection shows up in her music videos, as well as in real life. Pictured above with Jay-Z, she's in the presence of two other beauties from Italy, an Alfa Romeo Spider and a Ferrari 458 Speciale. The selection isn't bad for a trip up to the Alps and it's a far cry from the life Beyonce led growing up in Houston.

7 Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne is New Orleans' homegrown son and he's never slow to remind everyone of exactly where he came from. Similarly, he's never hesitated to reveal exactly where he spends his net worth, currently estimated to be somewhere in the $120 million range. That would mean that his Bugatti Veyron, which is a firm favorite among the world's wealthiest car enthusiasts because of its quad-turbocharged W16 engine that sends 1,000+ horsepower to all four wheels, is about 1% of his total wealth. Of course, most people struggle to make payments on a car that might be one of the single most valuable things they own, but Lil Wayne's got a range of other cars including Rolls-Royces, an Aston Martin, and even a Campagna T-Rex that was a gift from Nicki Minaj.

6 Drake

via LAist

Drake has developed into one of rap's most popular artists, though his beginnings in Canada and a supporting role on Degrassi: The Next Generation would never have foretold his massive success in the industry. Real name Aubrey Graham, Drake always flaunts his playboy image in music videos—but it's real life where he draws the most jealousy from car nuts. Yep, that Lambo above is actually his and he's also got himself a Ferrari LaFerrari in yellow. The hybrid supercar from the Prancing Pony is one of the fastest, most expensive cars on the planet and nothing else would do for Drake to ride around Toronto in.

5 Nicki Minaj

via Pinterest

Nicki Minaj has become one of rap's most successful female artists and though critics lambast her purposefully sultry style, they're forgetting exactly what hip-hop is about. She rose up in the industry by lending her talents to verses with the likes of Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Gucci Mane. Leaving behind a serial career getting fired from waitressing jobs, Minaj has become a tried-and-true star in her own right, and has the most Billboard Hot 100 titles of any female artist in any genre. Her outrageous style extends to her car collection, the highlight of which could be this pink-wrapped Aventador that she's always caught posing next to.

4 Floyd Mayweather

via Unilad

Whether he's the greatest boxer of all time or not, Floyd Mayweather is certainly one of the biggest show-offs of all time. A 50-0 record (including something of a farce in a bout against Conor McGregor) has helped Mayweather put the truth behind his 'The Money Team' brand—and his car collection is, literally, second to none. The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita he's sitting casually on in the picture above is worth just under $5 million and was a direct predecessor to the world-beating Agera RS. Only two were ever made, and it's one of the highlights in a huge collection that even once included a duo of Bugatti Veyrons.

3 Lebron James

via yahoo sports

Lebron James is the biggest name in basketball and quite possibly the best player of all time. He's also a pretty big guy in terms of physical stature and yet, he loves his small sports cars. Sure, he's put that frame to use in his Kia ads—and even claims he pilots a K900 around in real life, to just about everyone's immense skepticism—but the cars he's been caught driving all come from a much higher end of the spectrum. In Cleveland, he's been seen driving a Ferrari F430 Spider and he also owns the Porsche 911 Turbo pictured above. The convertible tops must allow him to feel a little less claustrophobic, since these are some tiny cars with the engines mounted behind the driver's seat.

2 Dwayne Johnson

via collider

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has come a long way since his wrestling days and can now be firmly counted amongst the 'A-List' crowd. His roles in the Fast and Furious franchise and on the HBO series Ballers have since introduced him to some pretty awesome rides but even the most hardcore fans would probably struggle to recognize the supercar he's pictured above standing next to. With styling somewhere between a McLaren, a Pagani, and a Ferrari, the sleek coupe is actually a GTA Spano—a limited-edition sports car built in Spain. But The Rock is another athlete (he was an NCAA football player before wrestling) who struggles to fit in his collection of cars, and he usually drives a tricked-out Ford F-150.

1 George Clooney

via E Online

George Clooney's days on ER set him up to live the good life—even before he went on to become one of the most famous people on the entire planet. While starring in serial TV shows and blockbuster films are a great way to amass enormous wealth, Clooney stepped up to the next level when he sold Casamigos and netted around a cool billion dollars. Few automobiles could hope to measure up to Clooney's effortless classiness but if one had to do it, a first-gen Corvette in red and white would be just about at the top of the list to achieve the task.
