The lives of the rich and the famous are like a freak show. They buy strange things, made stranger still because most of the world cannot buy the same, or afford them, and can probably only dream about them in their wildest fantasies to come. Of course, all celebrities have different choices when it comes to cars, but when they put out, they pull out all stops.
Especially when it comes to paying exorbitant amounts of money for very pricey cars. But then again, what is a few million but spare change to most of these people, right?
But then that’s how the penny falls in the world, and you have to admit, that these celebrities have worked hard to reach where there are. So, once you have earned enough cash, it is only fair that you get to spend it on the things you enjoy the most.
So here are ten celebrities and their ten most expensive car buys that make us look at them in awe mixed with a whole lot of envy.
10 Nick Mason’s Unique Ferrari 250 GTO
There were only 36 of these cars ever made in the world, and Pink Floyd’s drummer, Nick Mason, just had to get once for himself back in 1977, after they made The Dark Side of the Moon. At the time, he put down a princely sum of £37,000 for it, even though people told him not to waste his money.
And in 2010, he turned down an offer of $30 million on his car, making him one very rich man, inordinately fond of his rare ‘Rari, and a complete hero to all Ferrari fans.
9 Birdman’s Fly Red Bugatti Veyron
Birdman, aka Bryan Williams, aka music mogul has expensive tastes. So in 2011, he bought a Bugatti Veyron and got it customized in red, to match his red helicopter, of course. And to make fly, as in the adjective, not the verb.
But then again, at some $2 million, the Veyron is hardly is most expensive buy considering in 2010, he put down a whopping $8 million for a Maybach Exelero. Today, he is worth some $100 million, so his cars are but a blip on his radar.
8 Ralph Lauren’s Bugatti Atlantic Is Worth Millions
The man is a fashion legend, and such is his empire, that today, he stands at more than $7 billion worth. The man can buy a small country, if he finds it fashionable enough, that is. He did spend some of his loose change on a Bugatti, one that is so rare that only two of them exist in the world.
The Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic was a ‘30s model, and Lauren acquired it way back in 1988, and today, for an astounding $40 million. Talk about expensive!

Not all the stupendous car spends have to be on new cars, or even cars for themselves. When it comes to celebrities and their better halves, sometimes, they really do go all out. So when singer and diva Beyoncé turned 25, her doting husband Jay-Z got her a customized classic.
Costing a cool $1 million, the 1959 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was done up for wifey in her favorite colors and made the world get up and sigh at the cool, cool husband Jay-Z proved to be. Clearly nothing but the best for Queen Bey, right?
6 Simon Cowell’s Rarely Driven Bugatti Veyron
When Cowell is not busy cowing down, and sometimes building up contestants in America’s Got Talent, he’s busy buying and selling cars. Namely, Simon Cowell first got a Bugatti Veyron in 2008, and then later sold it for a cool $1.6 million. Clearly, yet another expensive car collector.
He also owns a Jaguar E-Type Eagle Speedster, and this car is so rare that only three of them exist in the world. Cowell managed to get it for under $1 million, some $863,005 to be exact.
5 Steven Tyler’s Charitable Hennessey Venom GT Spyder
Steven Tyler, for those who do not know, is the frontman for Aerosmith, and daddy to the once delectable Liv Tyler. He is also one man who loves cars, and the faster and more expensive they are, the better. The reason why he was blown away by the prowess of the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder and spent some $1.2 million to get the first one.
The man also loves to give to charity, and later he auctioned off the car, and the proceeds of it then went on to help more.
4 Jay-Z's Indulgent Maybach Exelero
So the Maybach Exelero we mentioned above that was first bought by Birdman Bryan Williams, never really became his, mostly because he never really paid for it. Either he forgot, or he changed his mind, or $8 million out of less than $100 million seemed a bit much, no?
So this very Exelero, “owned” by Birdman for a very short time, went to Jay-Z, who paid upfront for it, to the tune of a cool $7 million. If his wifey can have a $1 million classic Rolls, why can’t the man also indulge himself with the best?
3 Jay Leno’s Stunningly Super McLaren F1
Jay Leno is known for his wit, yes, but today, he’s most known for his $50 million-plus garage, $1.8 million of which belongs to his 1955 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing Coupe that most people would give an arm and a leg to own.
But that’s hardly the most expensive car in his very expensive garage because he also owns a 1994 McLaren F1 that cost him a whopping $12 million to buy. Nothing but the best for Leno. Period. Especially since he’s making a killing talking about cars…
2 Floyd Mayweather’ Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita
The man with the golden gloves, Floyd Mayweather is a boxing champ extraordinaire, so for him to drive just another would not do. This is why one of his cars is a Koenigsegg, and not just any Koenigsegg but a CCXR Trevita, and only two such cars exist in the whole wide world.
And this is one of the reasons why it cost him a cool $4.6 million and why he keeps driving it around with pizzazz. Clearly, the man keeps his cars a lot better than he seems to be keeping his girlfriends.
1 Cristiano Ronaldo’s Ooh-La-La Ferrari LaFerrari
The man may be Portuguese, but his love for the Italian Stallion, and by that we mean the car and not Sly Stallone, is well known. Considering he is one very successful footballer, the world is his oyster. So if Ronaldo wants a Ferrari, he decided to go out and get one of the best ones there is, the LaFerrari.
It bears a 6.3-liter 12 engine and can go 0-60 mph in a flat 2.5 seconds. The car is an absolute gem, but hardly the only supercar or even Ferrari that Ronaldo owns. Boys and their toys, right?
