Deadmau5, whose actual name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, is among the most iconic and celebrated EDM DJs in the world. His talent to create EDM hits that make crowds go wild is something he does to earn a rather lavish living.
The millions of fans he has across the globe are more than happy to shell out lots of money to witness him perform on stage with lights and visuals that add to the dramatic setup. The Canadian DJ's net worth is a mind-boggling $50 million.
Deadmau5, like most young millionaires, loves blowing up his money on properties, drones, recording equipment, modern concert setups, and of course, supercars, which is what this feature is all about. His car collection is filled with eccentric and controversial cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.
We take a close look at Deadmau5's funky and eclectic car collection to see what makes his taste so different from the rest.
Here’s A Look At Deadmau5 Funky And Eclectic Car Collection
His car collection is sure to be among some of the best, but because of how he's been personalizing the cars to his taste, he's also got into some serious trouble with some of the car manufacturers, who won't sell him their cars anymore after what he's done to them.
The Purrari
Ferrari, for instance, was unhappy when they got to know that he wrapped his $380,000 458 Spider with decals featuring the famous internet meme, the Nyan Cat. He further dubbed it the 'Purrari'. He even participated in the Gumball 3000 rally. Now while a lot of people found the car unique, Ferrari filed a cease and desist order, claiming copyright infringement.
Ferrari was upset because Deadmau5 swapped the prancing horse badges for what seemed like a leaping cat. As much as that would have the purists cringe, the DJ most definitely doesn't seem to care.
The Ferrari 458 Spider is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine that pushes out 562hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 458 Spider can sprint from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and can manage a top speed of 202mph.
Nyanborghini Purracan
His other supercar, the Lamborghini Huracan, gets the same custom treatment to the bodywork, with the Nyan Cat details on it, all in the same color as his Ferrari 458 Spider. The $235,000 Lambo has been dubbed the 'Purracan', because apparently, it too, looks cute like the kitty-themed Ferrari.
The Lamborghini badges have been replaced by leaping cats as well. Its 5.2-liter, naturally-aspirated V10 puts out 602hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, with power sent to the rear through a 7-speed dual-clutch, Doppia Frizione gearbox. The 'Purracan' can go from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 212mph.
McLaren 650S
His $270,000 McLaren 650S gets a very different body wrap, which includes the space invaders theme from the video game. The McLaren is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged engine, pushing out 616hp, and can reach a top speed of 207mph, while it accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.0 seconds.
Paired to the engine is a 7-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission. Deadmau5 drove his 650S at the 2015 Gumball 3000, where it wore a completely different wrap altogether, resembling the Queen of cards, with red hearts all over and a white background.
The car was even used as an Uber, giving random people rides in it. Deadmau5 loves his McLarens, as that's what his Instagram suggests. He often loans different models from McLaren Beverly Hills to have fun in them.
McLaren P1
Deadmau5 also bought himself a McLaren P1 for $1.15 million and drove it at the same 2015 Gumball 3000 rally. The P1 was covered in Ace-of-Spades decals, and he found that it looked way cooler than the original dark blue the car came in from the factory.
When he got bored with that wrap, he changed it to a full matt black shade. The McLaren P1 is a hybrid hypercar that's powered by a 3.8-liter turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor. With power from both units combined, the P1 makes 903hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The P1 can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds and manages an electronically-limited top speed of 217mph. However, Deadmau5 eventually sold off his P1 to raise funds for his Cube 2.1 DJ setup.
McLaren Senna
Deadmau5 also owns a McLaren Senna, which cost him about $1 million. The Senna is a limited-production model by the British car marque. Its V8 mid-engine setup pushes out 789hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This model does not use any electric motors. The Senna can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds.
BAC Mono
The most unusual car in Deadmau5's car collection is the BAC Mono. It's a lightweight, single-seater race car that can also be used on the road. It weighs in at just 1,190 lbs, giving it a great power-to-weight ratio.
The BAC Mono is powered by a 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder Ford Duratec engine that's been further modified by Cosworth to produce 283hp. Paired to the engine is a 6-speed sequential Hewland transmission with a limited-slip differential. The Mono can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds.
Deadmau5 Is A True Gearhead
One of his most recent acquisitions includes a McLaren 720S Spider that's wrapped with 'neat' written all over it. He has also owned other luxury cars like a Bentley Continental GT, a Tesla Model S P85D, and a Porsche 911 Carrera. Deadmau5 most definitely is a gearhead.
