Q45 Introduction

In 1985 within the Japanese company Nissan, a new group was put together to create a luxury division of performance-based vehicles. Their goal was to generate more competition with both American and European luxury car manufacturers. It wasn't until 1987 that a name for the luxury cars made by Nissan and their memorable logo was created. Their logo was designed to be two central lines heading directly to the horizon ahead, when looked at closely their logo creates an illusion of a road. In 1989, Infiniti launched its cars for the first time by selling its vehicles with 51 dealers in the US and had two models available. The two models that were able to be purchased in the US were the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe. The V6 engine was produced and fitted into the models of the VQ series in 1995 and was eventually recognized as one of the world's ten best engines over the next consecutive fourteen years. This engine was the parent of Infinit's Twin Turbo V6. Originally, Infiniti solely offered a Total Owner's Experience from the company to their customers, but in 1999 Infiniti introduced their Owner's Club which made exclusive offers and travel options accessible to Infiniti owners. 2001 was full of advancement for their already well-known and loved vehicles. During that year, Infiniti started producing intelligent cruise control that was designed to detect traffic that was up ahead as well as automatically adjust speed to help maintain a safe distance from the car in front of the driver. This assisted in preventing accidents. A reverse camera was also introduced to provide object detection behind the car while backing up which fed information to the in-dash display inside the vehicle. After these two notable advancements in 2001, the next year came with even more notable features. Voice recognition was eventually introduced as a way to control your vehicle without needing to remove your hands from the wheel making driving an even safer experience. 2003 came with the world's first lane departure warning which made its first debut appearance in the Infiniti FX. In 2007, Infiniti was the very first to introduce Around View Monitor. This system provides the driver with a 360-degree view of the car while parking and gives the driver an accurate view of their surroundings. The year also brought along an even more improved lane-departure system, which according to Infiniti, "automatically compensates if it senses you are about to drift to a neighboring lane, tapping selected brakes to ease you back into position." Infiniti has made so many innovations in technology over the years and it's clear that it will continue to be one of the highest-ranked auto manufacturers.

Over the next three years, not many notable improvements were made. However, in 2010 that changed. This was the year the world's first blindspot detection system was introduced. In 2011 Infiniti reported that "For the 2011 Formula One season, INFINITI partners with the reigning F1 Champions, Red Bull Racing, to explore future technological collaborations." Yet again, Infiniti revealed a world's first in 2012! A backup warning system was introduced, which works by engaging the brakes whenever a potential danger may be in the way. Another highly notable achievement Infiniti made in recent years was that after collaborating with Red Bull Racing for so long, Infiniti was given the opportunity to partner with the Renault F1 Team and gave Infiniti the chance to improve their hybrid technology in 2016. It's clear that Infiniti won't be slowing down on making industry firsts anytime soon.

However, no real explanation was given by Infiniti for their reasoning behind discontinuing this very well-loved model.
