On Facebook and on the pages of the Croatian edition called "Index", a video, which was previously published on the Internet, is being actively discussed. In this video, a potential buyer of a Rimac Nevera supercar accelerates to 232 kph (144 mph) on a public road. The head of the company, Mate Rimac, was forced to publish an official apology and said that the guy who was driving the car on the video had already surrendered to the police.

How Did The Rimac Nevera Incident Occur?

The video originally appeared on the popular Reddit resource. After some time, for unknown reasons, the recording was deleted from there. But the video was re-posted on other resources. The Dubrovnik Police Administration notes that they were not reported about a test drive on the roads under the jurisdiction of that administration.

Mate Rimac said on Facebook that the incident occurred during the presentation of the Nevera hypercar to potential buyers in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and all participants of the event were warned about the need to comply with the current restrictions. Nevertheless, on the D-8 highway, the unnamed tester nevertheless accelerated to 144 mph (this can be clearly seen on the speedometer). On that road, the maximum speed is limited to 90 kph (55 mph).

The head of the company apologized and noted that the perpetrator himself called the police. According to press reports, the tester is awaiting trial in a local court. He also clarified that in the future they will be more attentive so as not to endanger any more road users.

Nevertheless, Rimac Nevera Is Doing Good Now

Mate Rimac noted that Croatia should be proud that it was in this country that a hypercar was developed that attracted the attention of the whole world. About 80 dozen people from all over the world came to the presentation of the new car. The price of Nevera is more than $2 million.

Earlier it was reported that the 1914 hp electric hypercar could already be the fastest car on the planet at a distance of 402 meters. In unofficial tests, Nevera covered this distance in 8.62 seconds. At that time, the car was tested in a race against the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
