All kinds of superlatives go with this superfast, super innovative, and super luxurious work of automotive art, with one being the most appropriate. And it’s bespoke.

A Truly Bespoke McLaren Speedtail Experience

On top of innovation and elegance, the McLaren Speedtail offers an extraordinary opportunity for personalization. The design team aimed to make a car with the option for limitless customization. Every customer creates their own car, choosing the materials, colors, and textures to their liking out of an impressive collection of exclusive materials. The result is the bespoke interior and exterior made of materials rarely or never seen on cars before.

Leather and Carbon Materials

The Speedtail in the Hagerty video has a blue leather interior, blue leather floor mats, and contrasting black carbon fiber elements. As with other Speedtails, the owner selected the color, the leather itself, and the finish, like the blue stitching on black seats or carbon fiber patterns.

Special aniline leather on seating is extremely delicate and grippy at the same time. According to Tim McNair, it is so fine that it almost lacks any finish, so one has to be careful with it. Special durable leather covers the car’s floor. The blue leather floor mats have a pattern of rubber buttons.

The intricate carbon fiber pattern on the McLaren is another design highlight of this car. It’s a super tight weave called 1k carbon fiber, made using a 1,000-fiber thread instead of the conventional 3,000-fiber one. This innovative carbon fiber technology allows the inclusion of images and words in the very construction of the fabric. In this car, the dashboard has a gradient effect to it, with black in the middle fading to dots on the outside.

Cleaning The Speedtail

When the car first arrived for preparation after delivery, Grand Prix Concours gave the interior a ceramic coating to simplify its cleaning. This time, Tim McNair shows how to take care of the fine and super expensive materials in the Speedtail’s cockpit. Instead of randomly spraying the cleaning agent on surfaces, he sprays it onto a cloth, and then carefully rubs and polishes the surfaces. The idea is to be as less invasive as possible, achieving the desired result without a lot of scrubbing or any abrasion to the very delicate leather. This work requires some chemicals plus a little effort. Then the best way is to take time, going little by little rather than exerting force.
