Mercedes' most powerful road car is finally here – the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. Production is limited, and Shmee150 managed to get picked as a future owner. With each example costing around $434,000 (£335,000), Carwow's review guy Mat Watson detailed what you'll get at that price while he's driving the new supercar at the famed Silverstone Circuit.

Laden With GT3 Aerodynamics

The AMG GT Black Series borrows several elements from Mercedes' GT3 racing car, particularly aerodynamics. For instance, the track-ready supercar features a carbon fiber front splitter with two manually adjustable settings. The Race setting extends the splitter forward, but this is track-only since it's illegal on the road.

On the rear, the supercar features a twin-stage aerofoil concept, which upper blade has a movable flap that's electronically adjustable (up to 20 degrees). The main section of the massive rear wing can also be altered manually. Aside from these aerodynamic elements, the seventh Black Series is laden with several features that makes it ready for the track, including chassis reinforcement, wheel and tires as well as a race-ready cabin.

Sprint Time Confirmed: 3.1 Seconds

Serving as the core of the new AMG GT Black Series is a heavily modified AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine (M178 LS2) that delivers 720 hp (537 kW) of max output and 590 lb.-ft. (800 Nm) of peak torque. It's power is so massive that AMG has to install several cooling details.

Watson had the privilege of experiencing the AMG GT Black Series on the track. According to Mercedes, the supercar can do the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 mph. Wanting to confirm that, Watson also went for quarter-mile launch. As recorded, the car sprinted from zero to 60 mph in 3.13 seconds and to a quarter mile in  just 10.6 seconds.

Absolute Beast Of A Machine

A beast indeed, there's more than enough to forgive the no-touch monitor in the cabin. He described the supercar is "an absolute beast of a machine." Take that from a guy who has driven and reviewed countless powerful cars. His final verdict? Buy the most extreme Black Series ever.
