What would happen when you put an Acura NSX Type S and put it through its paces against the likes of a Porsche 911 Turbo S, a Nissan GT-R Nismo Special Edition, and finally, a C8 Corvette Z51?

YouTube channel Throttle House did just that and the results, well, took the racers and the makers by surprise. Here’s what went down in the epic drag race.

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S Takes On Three Biggies

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S does not come cheap, starting at $187,000 and looking like an absolute dream. With a 3.5-liter hybrid twin-turbo V6, the NSX makes 600 horses and 492 lb-ft of torque.

It goes up against the Nissan GT-R Nismo Special Edition ($217,485), which gets 600 HP and 485 lb-ft of torque from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6. The American darling, the C8 Corvette Z51 Stingray ($84,980) uses a 6.2-liter V8 to make 495 horses and 470 lb-ft torque.

Finally, the “rocketship” Porsche 911 Turbo S ($223,230) uses a 3.8-liter twin-turbo Flat-6 to make 641 HP and a massive 590 lb-ft of torque.

First up, the NSX takes on the Corvette and the GT-R, and no surprises there as Japanese excellence soundly trounces the ‘Vette. That said; given the price difference between the two, the C8 Corvette puts up a valiant fight and takes our heart.

When Japanese Excellence Competes Against Itself and German Engineering

What the Nissan GT-R Nismo Special Edition does is beat the 2022 Acura NSX Type S with a considerable margin, enough to know that the Nismo is one very, very special ride. And yet when the GT-R goes up against the Porsche 911 Turbo S, you understand why the latter is a rocketship. The Porsche zooms to a win, beating the Nismo soundly.

As one fan wrote, “Holy crap, I honestly can’t believe this lineup actually happened. Must be a legitimate dream come true for the throttle house crew to be driving amazing cars for a living. Thanks for the vids!”

So once again, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is the greatest because even against the likes of amazing Japanese cars, it beats them, proving that quality always costs. That said, another YouTuber made the right observation, “The GT-R achieved the impossible - it made Karston smile.”

Meanwhile, some already knew the outcome, writing, “Haven't even watched the video yet but the 911 will probably wipe the floor with the rest in a straight line. GT-R fastest around the track.”
