Ever since it was unveiled, the Suzuki Jimny became an immediate favorite among every auto enthusiast. The compact package from Suzuki proved itself and lived up to that hype by leaving many grinning, including us when we drove it, with not just its off-road prowess but also the cute road presence that it has.

Over time, there has been a lot that has been said about the car and one of them is that it has a resemblance to the mighty Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. Taking that thought further, the YouTube channel Collecting Cars gives us a detailed run-down on the humble Suzuki Jimny grazing mad Mercedes-Benz and AMG territory, and a getting Brabus-styled doze of aggressiveness. The result is honestly impressive.

Brabus Jimny Looks The Part Of A Mighty SUV

The car is based on a 2021 Jimny, so most upgrades and changes are cosmetic. This means, there is a 1.5-liter petrol engine powering this baby Brabus. The car has several exterior updates helping it look like a Brabus-styled SUV. At the front, you get the enormous Brabus badge sitting above the bull bars.

While in pictures, the cosmetic changes may make the car look bigger and wider, it is still small enough to comfortably navigate the city's busy streets. The car is driving on eighteen-inch wheels which seems to go well in the disguised Jimny.

At the back, the car gets blacked-out rear windows and more Brabus badges, including one on the spare tire. There is a lot of attention to detail as well, like the door handles which look exactly like original Mercedes-Benz parts. It even comes with a reverse camera in case you need help parking this mini Brabus in tight spaces, something you may not be able to do too often in the actual Brabus G-Class.

Getting Stylish With The Updated Interiors

On the inside is where things get interesting because the cabin of this car has been significantly upgraded from the standard Jimny. The car gets a vibrant orange leather that comes with diamond stitching everywhere in the seats and the doors.

Furthermore, you get a very thick steering wheel which seems to have faux carbon fiber on the top and leather all around the side. This feels much more luxurious than you'd expect for a car that started its life as a humble Suzuki. The headliners in the car have got little LEDs that turn on when you start the car.

What is also worth mentioning is that the car now also gets keyless entry, as you get in a modern Mercedes-Benz SUV. It gets a traditional instrument cluster that shows all the necessary readouts. Nothing that one will miss. The interior seems neatly laid out with larger buttons and grip surfaces used in place of more ‘modern’ touch surfaces.

There are ample niceties like digital air-conditioning controls, power windows and mirrors, and Suzuki’s simple but well-featured 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, as well as offering an integrated navigation system, vision for the rearview camera, and support for Bluetooth telephone and audio functions.

Under The New Skin Is A Very Capable Package

The car scores high in terms of practicality as well. There is plenty of storage with twin cupholders, phone, coin and wallet holders, and a reasonably-sized glove box. You also get a traditional grab handle to retain your passenger's peace of mind while you take it off the tarmac for a session off-road.

The car is based on a simple ladder-frame chassis and has coil springs that give it old-school toughness. This package has been proven to be reliable and also capable repeatedly as the little Suzuki has performed impressively in almost every road test it has entered.

The Jimny has a 37-degree approach, 28-degree break-over, and a massive 49-degree departure angle. The car also gets Suzuki’s Allgrip Pro four-wheel-drive system that offers high- and low-range gearing with support for both an uphill hold and downhill descent function.

Interestingly, the traction-control program comes with a ‘simulated’ locking system, where free-spinning wheels are automatically braked, and that power is then sent to the tire having contact with the surface which helps the car have ample traction even in tricky situations.

As mentioned before, the car is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 100 horsepower at 6000 RPM and 96 pound-feet of torque at 4000 RPM. While these numbers may seem a bit less at first glance, it is plenty to punch this 2,447-pound off-roader around the countryside. This engine comes mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

The Suzuki Jimny is already a proven car for the size and the price that it comes with. With the Brabus G-Wagen-themed updates, the coolness quotient of this car has literally never been this high.
